Halo 2's New Cinematics Are Looking Really Damn Good

I'm loving the way this looks

I loved Halo 2. I should really play the first anniversary edition game before this comes out.

full disclosure: i could not give less of a shit about halo games.

that said, those cinematics look FAN-TASTIC.

I'd actually give a shit if it was in-engine. I really wanna see how far these consoles can be pushed. Not some prerendered super computer shit.

I guess I'll have to wait for halo 5 or next uncharted.

However, it's just Halo 2 (and Halo 4) that will look this good. 1 and 3 need this kind of upgrade, too. Especially 3, since it'll be sandwiched in between 2 and 4 on playthroughs.

Microsoft's price cut was the perfect timing for me, I grabbed the Assassin's Creed Unity bundle and I can't wait to play Halo with friends again.

Those look pretty great, Halo 2's story went out like a damp squib though, wonder if they adjusted some of the storytelling as well.

It looks so pretty! My only issue is that given Halo 2's cliffhanger ending will still be a thing, it's gonna make Halo 3's cutscenes look like a giant turdfest in comparison since they aren't doing much with 3 in the MCC.

Even though I agree that Halo 2's story is bad, I've still must have played the campaign 10 times. This trailer gives me the warm nostalgia fuzzies.

Nothing even comes close to giving me goosebumps quite like the anticipation of a new Halo game, even if it's a collection of games I've already played an ungodly amount of time. Not to plug other sites, but IGN's coverage has been incredible, especially the hour and a half interview with Max Hoberman. That guy is THE multiplayer genius.

I'm really excited for this. The only problem I have with it is that playing from the first to four, the visuals from gameplay and cutscenes are so different, I just wish there was more consistency. Perhaps take this style and do all the cutscenes for all four games like it, and then take the visuals of four for all the gameplay; it'd be harder to do I'm sure and it'd take longer, but that'd be better in my opinion, even though this will still be great probably.

@mister_v: I believe the music is from the Halo: Legends soundtrack. It's track #22, "Sacred Icon Suite 2."

And, in case you're unaware, Halo: Legends was a compilation of several anime shorts based in the Halo universe from 2010 or so.

I am for all of this, but I'll never get used to Cortana having a realistic face. She's a computer program, she should look like she did on the old XBOX.

Halo 2 is my favourite Halo, by sheer virtue of how many hours I spent showing them online.

Nope. I don't see what everyone else sees. The faces seem more like puppets than actual human faces. The lip sync doesn't seem quite on time with the lip movements. This trailer veers far too deep into uncanny valley and the overall effect is eerie and unsettling. Also, not to put too fine a point on it, but the prophets' skin looks like full-on scrotal sack. You can practically see dangling testicles wafting to and fro on his earlobes. I appreciate (and at the same time, don't appreciate) that the hive mind looks less like Audrey II and more like an enormous, cavernous vagina. There's a lot of Freudian imagery going on in this trailer and it doesn't leave me wanting more.

With Halo and Fable MS has really done a great job with re-releasing old games.

Rather then just up-scaling the res they actually put a ton of work into the games to justify re-buying the games.
