Are they releasing it on May 19th to try and stop people from playing Witcher 3?

Probably. This "game" is all about a well thoughtout business strategy.

You'd think they'd spend these millions on producing content for their games rather than high-res close-ups of bad guys we've seen hundreds, if not thousands, of times before.

I really liked Destiny when it came out, but boy, I sure don't anymore.

I played quite a bit of Destiny and there is NO WAY ON THIS FUCKING EARTH that I am playing any more. Ever. Expansion, sequel, I don't care. Destiny makes me mad in a way that I used to laugh at other people for being over games.

I'm so glad I never got into this game. I feel like I dodged a bullet.

Y'know, hearing this is focused around the Queen makes me way more interested. She was the one character I wanted to really see more of. Well, and her brother too I guess. Would still prefer the horde-ish stuff was 6 player max not 3, but I'll play this.

Played this game obsessively for like a month when it first came out, and then realized it was literally nothing but a treadmill... and a short/repetitive one at that (at the time - no idea if it has gotten better).

Here's hoping in Destiny 2, that they actually tell a coherent, interesting story - instead of another meager patchwork of cutscenes, that require you to go outside the game to figure out what the hell is going on.

It's a testament to the core gameplay, that Bungie were able to get away with a main campaign story that was such an unsatisfying clusterfuck with only a handful of environments.

Yes, their direct competition. One game has content and the other doesn't.

Man, I don't know. Destiny was legitimately my #2 last year, but I haven't played it in about 2-3 months now. I almost feel like a sucker if I'm going back to it. Like it's pointless, because I missed so many events (Strange Coins) and chances of getting Exotics.

I guess that's what I don't like about that game. I actually didn't mind the grinding because the gameplay was so damn good, but now since I haven't played in a while I've been falling behind and it feels like I need to grind my way back up. I don't like that.

I wish they wouldn't be so coy about what the Reef is going to be.

I suppose we "know" it's another hub for distributing bounties and such, but if that's all it's for they could've just kept the Queen's emissary in that viewing port the Iron Banner guy stands in as well, right?

I'm excited for this expansion because I'm not a Raider and they seem to be implying my play style will have access to the coolest new gear this time around, but the one new environment (I get they opened locked doors and explored previously unknown caverns in Dark Below but it was ultimately familiar aside from the door to Rasputin) being just another place to hit the Vault and collect experience boosts seems a little…uneventful to say the least.

What should I play Witcher 3 or Destiny a game that's filled with grinding same old loot for 2nd time and 3 new missions, I think Witcher wins that fight hands down.

I'm playing this and Witcher 3 because I'm a self-loathing monster.

Interesting to see all the hate for Destiny. I've played since day one and still play on and off, but I never made the mistake of playing compulsively or making it a job. I still really enjoy jumping and shooting Moon wizards every now and again. Sometimes I even find some cool new stuff. Maybe I'm in the minority. *shrug*

Sure lets do this. I'm down to destiny it up some more.

I played a fair amount of Destiny. Much less since I was on PS3 and didn't ever group with anyone outside of Strikes. The best scenarios is if their horde mode is good and has matchmaking. Its already payed for so I have no reason not to check it out.

@zevvion: I don't think you have to worry about being behind, everyone who has been playing nonstop are just maxed out. Once new DLC hits there will be new stuff to grind and new equipment to get so all your old stuff will be trash anyways.

I laugh that there is no gameplay in this trailer. That's right cause destiny is just doing the same thing you already have done over and over. On the same maps over and over.

A fancy advertisement for what I assume will be another purchase of a new map or two and some gameplay tweaks...well, I guess I'm still not going to bother

@schlorgan: you did totally a great idea that is handled poorly, raids were all I had left I maxed out and got all the weapons from the darkness below. I got board built a pc and have been messing around with those games. This just confirms Destiny is dead/

Unfortunately, very little story as usual.

Hell, I wish they put as much effort into the game as whoever worked on that video.

I'm still having fun playing this game with friends and strangers 1-2 times a week. I'm looking forward to something new!

I thought I'd comment here for no particular reason to let anyone reading this know how much I dislike Destiny with as much snark as possible.

(I like Destiny for what it is, I'm okay with having no desire to play it every day, I did get 130 hours out of it, I'm looking forward to playing whatever new content House of Wolves offers)

Because of the version of Destiny I (unfortunately) purchased, I technically own this...but since they probably aren't putting out any additional trophies and I got over this game the first week the last DLC was released, I don't even know if I am going to with this. Boy, I hope Bungie gets their shit straight for Destiny 2, but I have a strong feeling that I trust that if Destiny 2 came out with the same amount of content, the same complete lack of story, and the same unbalanced competitive mp that the same people would still praise it. /whatever Witcher 3 is out about that time, so hopefully that drowns out any potential, constant Destiny talk.

I actually didn't think Jeff and Brad argued much about Destiny until it came time for the GOTY deliberations. Jeff actually let Brad talk about Destiny anytime he wanted for as long as he wanted without interrupting in any real way.

Cool, I'm down for this, even as fucking long as it's taken. Been waiting for a reason to get back into Destiny and this'll do it, especially looking forward to seeing what sort of 'horde mode' they offer.

Why are The Fallen bad again?

People dog piling on this game and hating don't know what the fuck they're talking about for the most part. The true joy of the game starts when you start gaining light levels and then you can go the harder end game stuff with a group of friends, all the while hoping to get that next best piece of coveted loot. Destiny is a social game and when you have a consistent group of friends playing with you and noticeably getting better at the raids or strikes or whatever, it's super fun. I've been playing daily pretty much since launch and can't fucking wait for House of Wolves.

I think they are highly overestimating their pull with Destiny and will be greatly overshadowed by the release of The Witcher 3. Not well thought out at all.

This is an excellent question that I don't think any Destiny player could fully answer. They're scavengers and they want mankind's stuff? I think? This is coming from someone who actually read all of the grimoire cards he found and has over 200 hours into the game.

Because they're ugly alien doods, and if there's one lesson that's been consistent throughout videos games, it's that "ugly alien doods must die" and "lookit the hawt alien chicks".

@sammo21: Very true about that: Jeff did give Brad and his Destiny talk it's time, even playing it himself of course for a raid or two. Just made it that much sweeter when it was ripped apart on the GOTY casts. I do hope that it doesn't even get mentioned this time around on any of the bombcasts.

Glad some folks got their money's worth out of it but, damn, what a let down it was for me...
