I keep falling into the Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty trap every year... Hopefully playing with friends will make it worth it just as Advanced Warfare turned out to be!

I have no idea why I find this trailer so funny, but it made me giggle a bunch.

I'm pretty excited for the game, but this is a pretty crazy "Hey, check out all of our bestest of the best shit ever!"

Am I in the wrong here for not seeing what they are so proud of in the graphics department? Yes 5000 people is impressive I guess, but I'm not seeing what is supposed to justify the crazy PC system requirements.

@foggen: Would English spoken with a fake French accent be any more accurate? For people who care about stuff like that there's always the option to turn on French audio with English subtitles.

Forget WW2. Where's the Victorian London game I've been begging for!?

Just take Alan Moore's "From Hell" and substitute "Freemason" for "Templar".

Only if they make it possible for the assassin to stop at opium dens and have you "refuel" on opium and absinth.

Boy, I'm glad Ubisoft released yet another trailer. Has anyone counted exactly how many different trailers have come out for this game? It must be above 20 - surely. That's just too many.

I got this game with my Xbox One bundle, so I'll play it, but I'm feeling that this will be another "down" year for the series. This is purely speculation based on Ubisoft pushing ads and trailers such as this one.

@neocalypso: Ubi doesn't cater to the PC market very well. Instead of actually do optimization work to run the game on PC with equivalent specs to current consoles, they basically suggest if their games don't run on your system you could always upgrade your PC.

Technically and artistically the graphics are fucking fantastic. There's a ton of really advanced graphical effects going on and the detail and models for everything look really impressive.

I wonder if they fixed the "stick to everything" mechanic. It's been just about miserable running around in past assassins creed games.

Weird, I didn't realize that French people at the time spoke in British accents. Huh. History.

I really hope they'll have the option to switch to native French in the game like the ones set in Italy let you switch to Italian.

Reason for the accents is the animus translating. For once they actually made it make sense, if the Animus translates into the native language of the use, the person speaking wouldnt have an accent.

Nah, translating to English makes sense. Translating to British English makes no sense. Characters spoke with a Middle-Eastern accent in the first game, Italian accents in the Ezio arc, etc. They should be speaking English with a French accent here.

I would much rather just hear them speak in French-ass French and read subtitles the whole game than have to hear French people during the French Revolution speaking in British English the whole game.

It looks like that female Templar is a pretty important character and there at the beginning.

Think how cool it would have been if you could have chosen to play her instead and then Arno joins the Templar side. And it would be pretty much the same game. Ah well.

@mktacuara:

Of course they are all male, you all play as Arno. Are we seriously still talking about that thing? I mean let's forget that just last year Ubisoft released an Assassin's Creed game with a female protagonist, or that every single game in the series has had at least one (in AC1, more in the following games) strong female character. Or that they always had female assassins in multiplayer.

Again, this is so very stupid to even bring it up, again.

@ebo: Nah, it's not stupid to bring up again. You play as Arno but in co-op when there are other Assassins, why wouldn't you be able to play as a woman? Saying "well Ubisoft already has at least one strong female in each game" and "well Ubisoft already made one game with a female protagonist" and then brushing your hands off is cheap, lazy, and decidedly cold comfort to women who don't feel represented in this industry. It wouldn't break anything for you to have the option to play as a woman; all it would do is make a female player feel like she can customize a character that represents her the same way you can.

Ubisoft citing the "deep character customization" just feels like a slap in the face to all the women they shrugged at earlier in the year and said "yeah, sorry, it'd be too much work to let you play as a woman."

Because in coop everybody still plays as their Arno, its supposed to be them as Arno, teaming up in THEIR game with other Assassins. Its like the multiplayer in Watch_Dogs where you will always be Aiden, or in America's Army where you will always be the American Army. I feel the male gender wasen't represented properly in Beyond Good and Evil, where was my option to select a male to play as? Seriously, mountains out mole hills these days.

Also in reply to your reply to me: The animus is "dubbing" over the person speaking with an accent relevant to the user in the animus. For example if you watch a French film being dubbed into English, they don't dub it with a French accent. The developers have already said this is something that should have been done in the game's, because before it didn't make sense for them to have accents. Hence, they are correcting it this time. The character wasen't supposed to be an Italian guy speaking English, it was supposed to be a machine translating it into English, therefore, dubbing over. It's the same when you watch a Japanese interview, if the translator isnt Japanese he won't repeat what the guy said back to the interviewer in a Japanese accent.

@sasnake: Two points:

1) If I want to customize how my Assassin looks in someone else's game, even if I won't see it myself, why is that a problem for you? Unless you just don't want to see a female Assassin in your game, I don't see why it's a problem for you that people want that. Plus, it makes sense in-fiction because many Assassins were female. If you roll the dice on a random Assassin, there should be a chance of getting a female Assassin.

2) The Animus stuff doesn't make any sense anymore anyway, and that's coming as a diehard Assassin's Creed fan who really enjoyed the concept of the Animus in the first like five games. Regardless of whatever bullshit canonical reason they have to make French people sound British, they should sound French because they are French. The user's DNA is where it's getting the memories from so it doesn't matter what accent the user has; it matters what accent the person whose DNA held the memories had. Arno was French. The memories are in French. Why would a computer impose a new accent? It's a computer. Impose a French accent then. They're French.

EDIT: Actually, hold on, third point:

3) Your Beyond Good & Evil point makes no sense. It's a single-player game with no multiplayer. It's a set narrative. No one is asking for the option for Arno himself to become a woman, just that the customization options for the throwaway co-op characters allow for the possibility to play as a woman if the player wants that.
