Is Resident Evil eSports Now?

I'm interested to see why this exists.

@top8gamer: Even Valve has disconnect with their games sometimes. There are constantly changes made to CS:GO that make the community wonder if anyone at Valve even actually plays it. They do at least know to not do big updates until after majors, though.

And yeah, this looks bad. Worse than that Halo thing at Gamescom, and that was bad. Thing is, though, I can see Halo 5 ending up a truly competitive game. I cannot see that happening for this. It's so cluttered and messy looking, animations are janky, and hey, if you're gonna bill your game as an esport, make sure the people playing in your video know how to fucking aim. There were so many just strange clips in that video...

What an awful idea.

That was just plain awful. It looks like a fake video game that show up in a game for the purpose of making fun of the genre. The zombies only attacked when it was convenient for the action. The game seems to have been outsourced from China for cheap. Then an Umbrella logo is slapped on and now its related to Resident Evil. Capcom did not learn anything from Operation Raccoon City.

I wish Capcom would bring back Resident Evil: Outbreak with better co-op. Maybe bring back Onimusha. Other than that, no thanks Capcom.

Not against the actual game but wow. Not even a single OOHHH NICELAH not real esport commentators.

Looks like another corporate entity thinks that faking legitimate e-sports commentary banter is the key to tricking kids into believing that their BRAND NEW, unreleased, competitive game already has earned an established, long-standing following. Because we all know kids love to follow things and compete.

E-sports Commentator Bro Dude Alpha out

I usually abhor the phrase in it's normal usage, but this is THE definition of TRY HARD.

This game should be renamed Resident Evil: Contact!

Game seems less "E-Sports" and more "Mediocre Free-to-Play Shooter". Also the commentators in the video. I grimaced throughout its duration.

This just looks terrible...

I cant tell if I dislike the game or if it's just the commentators.

Pretty classic Capcom, following too late on a trend that never really even took off. I suppose Rainbow Six could change that, but I really doubt it.

Have to get your backpack blown up to be mildly groped by the zombies, also those grenade timers are laughably long. Really seems like a F2P console shooter, another black mark on the name Resident Evil.

I believe that games become eSports by themselves. Games that are made with the main purpose of being an eSport, I don't think so. The people are deciding if this shit's an eSport or not.

Trailer is horrible but the gameplay looks aight. Jammer pack keeps zombies from attacking you until its broken, the close quarters fire fights look like they could be intense.

I was actually excited for this after the reveal, this is making me cringe so much. Not interested in this anymore.

@beerczar: There's a 'jammer' on their backs that makes the zombies ignore the player. They can be damaged though and the zombies will attack if your jammer is busted.

Capcom, this is really not difficult.

Look at Resident Evil 1. Remember how that goes? Good.

Now look at the PT demo Sony released. Full of atmosphere. Got it?

Now do Resident Evil 7 like a mix of the two and you will have a gigantic hit on your hands and restore faith in the brand.

What I witnessed here with this video above. That won't break 500,000 copies and will flop.

Huge Resident Evil fans don't want this and regular FPS gamers and competitive e-sports players don't want this. Time to get your head out of your ass Capcom before there is no Capcom left.
