Nathan Drake, Desert Fighter

I don't care what any haters say. Like Mario, Uncharted carries the console it was made for and it's one of the coolest franchises there has ever been. Considering how very little they have shown of this game and how much was buried away in Uncharted 2, you've got to be excited for the prospect of more Drake then ever before. If the airplane bit didn't remind you of all the great action movies from the past 20 years as best as a game can do, I think you might not be pleased at all.

I think Naughty Dog's animators are having just a bit too much fun at this point. Some of the details like the guy looking at Drake and doing a shocked lean until he falls to the ground are just overkill.

This game looks incredible. Period.

This is amazing... I need a better TV, Nathan Drake deserves the best.

Seeing him from desperately dehydrated and lurking along to FRIGGIN ACTION HERO SPIDERMONKEY during gun battles gave me a feeling of whiplash

Goddamn, Naughty Dog are the fucking masters of the PS3 hardware. They said that UC2 was the max, and then they pull off this shit with a higher framerate.

Not a great idea to watch this thirsty.

So two guys have a clean shot at Drake: Guy drinking water with gun in other hand and the other who is patrolling the area, someone yells "It's Drake!", Guy drops canteen and hides while the other guy just stares at drake giving him the chance to hide...must have been the new guys..

that aside...gotta love naughty dog, they are simply amazing and talented game developers, they never cease to blow me away with the presentation of the uncharted games.

Whoa. Is Uncharted 3 running at 60 FPS? I don't remember U1/U2 running this smoothly.

It's been a while since footprints in a game impressed me. I think the high frame rate might be to make stereo 3D perform better? Who knows, it's freakishly smooth...too smooth.

Nathan's stamina for killing has been in all the games.

In Uncharted 2 he takes on a mess of mercenaries with a big gaping stab wound.

I watched the official Naughty Dog youtube video of this and it doesn't run at 60fps as this video does.

Odd.

His animation seems all weird in the beginning and for some reason the shadows from the dust (or whatever that is) in the air moves at a much lower framerate.

All this hardly able to walk and speak, yet having no problem jumping into and climbing wells or fighting/being an action hero is sort of off-putting to me.

I guess I'm (almost) alone here though.

is it me or does it look like this game runs at 60fps? it's so fucking smooth, and if that's the case then I think we can safely assume Naughty Dog are black magic wizards to pull it off.

It's never been in any of the Uncharted games, but it really should. Having to do it manually just breaks the flow of the combat.

Adrenalin can do that to you, atleast thats what Naughty Dogs excuse was. Makes sense in a way I guess.

I agree I hate "spongy" enemies in games, but I also noticed that some enemies did have good hit animations and some didn't. And you can clearly see that some enemies that don't react have bulletproofsvests and nates bullets are simply deflected. Check out at 03:43.

UC2 had great hit animations and very satisfying combat, I belive UC3 will continue that route.

Those graffix are so good that I thought this was a prerendered cutscene! Man now I'm REALLY excited for uncharted 3

@Solh0und: I must be the only one in the world who thinks God of War 3 doesn't look that good.

I always hear it thrown around, but it seriously is the last game that would pop into my head when I think about amazing console graphics. I personally don't think it even comes close.

Maybe I should play it again one of these days.

I don't think this will be the overall BEST game of the year but I can see Uncharted 3 having the tightest narrative of all the games coming out this fall. Really looking forward to it.

@OllyOxenFree: Noooooo I'm not--at least I don't think so. I was referring to what I saw in this demo, not previous Uncharted games.

I know its in vogue to complain about Drake's super-human abilities in combat contrasting with the notion of a flawed protagonist, but people do realize that's a problem with essentially every game ever, right? And not just Uncharted? Because, honestly, claiming this disparity is very distracting in this one series and than ignoring it for the entire rest of the medium seems odd.

Nolan North really can't do tired.
