Ryan's Inferno

erm, am i the only one that cant view this review/video? its just a picture??

The new video player doesn't work, but fortunately I loaded this just before the changeover, so I can tell you that I feel your pain, Ryan. I've been there before. Stuck at one stupid part of a video game for ages and ages. Hell, I never beat Metroid Prime 2 because I couldn't beat the Spider guardian.

There is a relic which makes this alot easier. Can't remember the name of it though.

New Video Player is awesome! Also, this truly is hell.

Sections like this are truly terrible to include in a game. It's so lazy. And yet they're all over Darksiders too and nobody really compained in that one. Perhaps because they were spread throughout rather than just dumped into the last 3rd of the game as in DI.

A note to game designers:  Challenges like this one can be a great addition to your video game.  They can be fun, instructional, and a lot of people enjoy doing them.  However, they should never, EVER be mandatory.

This is a good video. It's repetative and boring, but you do share in ryans happiness a little bit when he finally beats it.
Also, this video confirms that giantbomb allways finish games before posting reviews, something alot of gaming sites obviously don't do.

Is anyone else having trouble with the updated video player? I can't get it to play :(  I tried updating Flash and have tried both Firefox and IE. It's a no go on either.

So, let's see. A guy who plays video games for a living is frustrated to the point of fury, as demonstrated in this video.  He is probably better at video games than most people ever will be, and it takes him nearly a hundred shots at this section, plus some luck, to complete it.  That pretty much makes my decision on this one; I won't be picking it up.

Dante's Inferno is a good game, but it could have been so much better.  I'm not at these challenges yet, but I do dread them.  Seems like a lazy way for the developers to add time to the game without content.

That was surprisingly funny.

Where is the quality settings? The video's used to have a low, medium and high quality setting before hitting play.

Watching this reminds me of being a kid in the 80's. You might have only ever had 1 or 2 games a to a time to play and you'd play the crap out of them no matter what kind of abuse they saw fit to dish out.

..NO..NO...NO....FUCK !.   aptly describes these challenges the developers put in the game.

Is there a combo like in God of War that's like light-light-heavy that lets you knock them down quickly? If you can keep enemies off their feet they can't attack you. 
 
Or you can try to save your rage powerup meter thing for the second big ass dude and just wail on him with heavy attacks.

I'm using Chrome and the new video player won't work for me, neither progressive or streaming. 
  
Fixed it. If anyone else is having this problem, when you hit play, move your mouse over the video screen for a while and move it back out. Repeat if necessary.

thanks Ryan now I know never to play this game. This should be in a challenge mode not the main game.

Why would they make this mandatory? Any interest I had in this game died with this video.

Is this for real? I'm sorry, but it was my friend's first time playing the game (we were at friends house who had the game, his first time ever touching game) and he beat it on his first try.
 
I remember what we told him to do is to just use crosses (my friend leveled that up to where it fires a lot of them) and when the babies spawn just hit them, because they can interrupt your cross ability. I had beaten every challenge up to that point without dying, and I failed twice on this one so I passed the controller to my friend.

Props Ryan.  90% of reviewers would have just yelled "F THIS", watched the final boss on youtubes and written the review anyway.

ohh man that was pretty intense, i was like "OMG NOOOO" everytime it failed.

Guess I'm not watching anymore GiantBomb vids, I'm not turning off my pop-up blocker.

Man, I feel sort of bad. I stormed this on my fist try. In fact, I think I even got the bonus... 
 
Maxing out the holy path makes the game pathetically easy. Infinite, uninterruptable  AOE cross blasts? Dead enemies bleeding health and mana?  A maxed out heal spell that will get you from 10% health to 100%? 
 
Being good, it seems, has its rewards...

Man, if Ryan had put some stuff into the holy tree he probably wouldn't have had that much trouble. I think the last boss is going to drive him slightly batshit.

It sucks that they made this part mandatory, but I pretty much know for a fact that none of the GB crew is especially good at games either. Not even like average good, they kind of suck at them. Wasn't Ryan the same person that said Mirror's Edge was trial and error?

Thank you for this video, it has pretty much swayed me to not play this game. I've been on the fence for awhile, but this is a level of frustration that I can easily see myself falling into. Thank, Giant Bomb! You da best!

Lol, I hope this doesn't put anyone off from playing the game. For a GOW clone, it really is fun. I went the Holy route first and this Malebolge really wasn't that much of a problem if you just use Righteous Path here and there when enemies get too far away from you.

This was the main complaint other reviews had for the game. The game starts off strong, but gets really generic in the middle and really hard in the final parts of the game. 
 
I was wondering where the review was myself, now I understand.
 
2 out of 5 stars I imagine.
 
Edit: Wow! people talk about how hard Devil May Cry 3 was, but even that game didn't have a part like this before fighting the final boss.

The music starts to wear on you, to say the least.
