Everyone keeps saying "former developers of The Last Guardian", but let's not forget the former developers of Killzone 2 and the new Bionic Commando game also working there. Edit: Sorry, I meant to say that most are not giving them credit for their past work, not that it's a bad thing!

Just awesome.

It just shows how effective, and effecting, that sort of art style can be. I wish someone would make a whole wRPG like that or a sandbox game like Rust or DayZ in that style. Spend the money and time on content and a huge world, instead of making sure all the characters have realistic zippers and buttons on every pocket.

Looks and sounds alright! I'm not a huge fan of deserts, I've explored a lot of them in games, but this one isn't blinding orange at least.

This is an interesting mix of Japanese and Western dev philosophies. Maybe I'm assuming too much, but that's what it looks like to me so far.

None of the devs are Japanese themeselves, but they're based in Tokyo and have worked in that world.

Also, don't know if this information is up to date or not, but the dev's about page lists pretty much 2 people working on Vane. One does the code and visuals (Mr. Guerreiro), the other the music (Mr. Lilja). That seems crazy.

It would have looked even more stunning without the extremely extreme camera shaking.

I hear you. Here's hoping that a few more games can embrace stylized visuals without going to extremes of making the look a simple gimmick. I wonder how much more vast areas might be and how much more reactive physics could behave if hardware resources weren't always being eaten up by details that are often indistinguishable during gameplay given the distance of the camera from a given subject and environment?

I don't see any evidence of voxels. All the reactiveness is basically just particle effects, but using solids instead of sprites. Polygonal shapes that sprout into existence and then fade or shrink back out. There's no permanently changing geometry involved.
