Important things to note:

- DLC will be backwards compatible from PS3 to PS4 and 360 to Xbox One.

- Same with (most of) the instruments.

- But they WILL be making new instruments.

- This will be the only Rock Band game released. From here on out, it's downloadable updates, free or otherwise.

I'm really interested to see the changes they are talking about. I could dig playing rock band again, but itll be a hard sell if its just the old thing with a new coat of paint. Even little tweaks could make a colossal difference to the existing formula.

Cool. But the tone of the video was very 'make-or-break'. I get the feeling that if RockBand 4 isn't successful then Harmoix will close. :(

@baltimore: I was totally feeling the same way watching that video. Remembering how much they've had to downsize and with people leaving Harmonix is definitely not in the same way that it was during Rock Band 3. This would be very sad if Rock Band 4 ends up killing them if it underperforms.

@oscar__explosion: I really, really would hate to see them shutter their doors but that video does not inspire confidence. Look at everyone's body language. All show as 'scared'.

Yes, yes, yes!

I miss my Rock Band. Sadly all my songs were bought on Xbox 360 and I now play on PS4 so that's a bummer.

Still, this is great news.

Game of the Generation gets a new sequel. Yes, yes, yes, etc.

Apparently no keyboards which is incredibly disappointing. I've definitely "graduated" to Rocksmith in the last two years, but I'll be picking this up day 1. Only real concern is what is Harmonix at this point? Most of the familiar faces are gone. I'll trust them, though. They generally seem to do the right thing.

So glad I stuck with Xbox. 800 songs right out of the gate for me!

Ok so clearly a few of us did this...question is...Will I need to buy RB1, 2 and 3 on PS3 so I can transfer the disk songs over to RB4? Or is it only going to count converting the digital DLC?

So can I use my Xbox 360 Guitars/Drums with my PS4? If there is an adapter for it or anything like that I'll be on it regardless of the price (except if the new instruments are dirt cheap obviously)

I think I'm the only person in the world that doesn't want another one of these. Just make this a Spotify service w/ Karaoke like hourly fees and be done with it. It's the music that sells this stuff, it's silly to imply that the "game" is what makes people play this. It's not. It's the content. The game mechanic has been virtually the same since Guitar Hero 1.

If I can use the existing instruments I have, along with all the DLC I have (including each core game) then I'm on board with this! I will buy the new DLC too!

Well, I suppose when you do something really well you keep doing it? I'm not opposed to this, I just want to see more music from people I like. Mainstream stuff is fine, but more stuff like being able play Say Anything songs would be really nice :|

I guess I kind of see why some employees went out into the world to do other things.

Ehh... I want to be excited, but I can't really justify spending any time with this game now that Rocksmith exists. I mean it would be different if I was already great at guitar and I just wanted to have some fun... but as someone who basically learned with Rocksmith and is still learning, going back to pushing buttons just seems like a huge waste of time.

They might make a PC port eventually. Considering this will be the only Rock Band game they will be making (meaning no more spin off projects) I guess the next logical step would be doing ports for other platforms.

@thundersheep: I don't get your point. I see them as two very different things. It's cool to keep practicing real guitar and still have fun with these games. Like myself! I love playing my guitar, but I have zero interest in playing the hundreds of (stupid fucking)songs in all my rock band/guitar hero games on anything other than those little plastic buttons. There's something about it that's really fun and it's nothing at all like playing the music I actually care about on a real guitar.
