We Unbox the Translucent PlayStation 4 Pro

I’m with Brad on the translucent issue. Always thought it looked cheap and tacky.

Ugh this is the problem with having disposable income there is going to be this tiny voice in my head saying just buy it come on just buy one until there all sold off and I can sleep in peace again.

@rek503: The regular ones do that too, it's just not clear so it's normally only a small strip that you can see...

The only translucent console that I ever had was an N64, which I thought was very cool back when I was a kid. The translucent PS4 looks pretty nice too, but I think I'll stick with black.

I get the not liking see through electronics but my Game Boy Color was soooo cool when I was a kid. :-P

I like to see the gears and pistons working when I'm playing vidya games.

I love my translucent aqua blue N64. It's such an appealing color. This looks cool, too. Dark blue and gold? I'd definitely be down if I had the cash. I wish they'd launch "Day 1" edition of consoles with cool colors like this and no upcharge. I usually buy early and miss out on the neat colors.

We sure have come a long way since the translucent N64 stuff. Looks really nice.

I had the translucent Game Boy as a kid, so I have a nostalgic soft spot for translucent electronics.

In the case of this, though, I'm honestly more interested in the box it came in. I love console boxes, and this one is really nice.

I'm with @brad on this one, though I've always loved the idea of transparent (or translucent) electronics, the reality never matches up with the idea.

If that PS logo on it was gold-colored, it'd be mint. Still looks very cool

I think transluscent consoles are kind of a misnomer now; as they said you get to see some boring shielding or flat textured back of the psu or battery. Not as much nifty detail anymore.

Self winding watches on the other hand... *drools* Intricate watch gears doing their thing are my fetish.

I’m normally in the Brad camp (being a Brad myself) on the see-through electronics issue but for some reason I think this transparent pro looks super slick.

That PS4 would look really nice in the home of a clean person... not so much a messy gamer.

With the prices of video cards these days I think I might buy a PS5 whenever it comes instead of upgrading my PC. My GTX1070 is still good enough though so I don't really feel the need for something new. I would get a Pro if it made all games 4k since I have a 4k screen for my computer and PS4 slim. But it is not worth it for a handful of games when my PC is better anyway.

Sure it smells great, but what about the mouth feel???

There were limited edition PS3s, but I think that may be mostly in Japan. I was walking through a game over there back in 2015, and I saw stuff like limited edition Final Fantasy XIII, FFXIV, and Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3s. I may be misremembering some games, but it was a lot of stuff like that.
