@Duffyside: I think you may have misunderstood me, you only quote the last line of my post without giving credit to its context.  I was talking about my own personal situation only to justify my comments relating to and extending perhaps to why i talk the talk but have not yet signed up to any membership.  In fact I think they are fully entitled to operate this way and am pleased they went about it with such transparency.

@MrAWESOME247: I tend to skip over those parts because I'm not especially interested in comics. Plus, at the time they seemed like the weak link of the 4 sites that had a presence in the shows, especially in the big live live show, where I found all my breaks being when Comic Vine came on if I remember right. 
 
They were likely the weakest part of the show at first, but they've kinda been improving since then. Whenever I do end up watching their sections now (i.e. when they're about movies or video games as well as comics) I do enjoy them.
