For its time, Tokimeki Memorial 2 was an ambitious undertaking in expanding the depth and length past the original Tokimeki Memorial game.
Utilizing the full potential of the CD based storage medium, the developers packed 5 CD's worth of data into one game. Such data included fuller voice acting than from the previous Tokimeki Memorial game, high definition (for its time) artwork and music, 3D graphics, and richer, in-depth storylines for each of the girls that the player could chase after. The game also had a groundbreaking EVS voice system predating the Vocaloid program that could make the characters pronounce the player's given name. Though only two girls were able to use the EVS at its first launch, more girls could be added in through the use of special expansion discs.
