    Overview

Dragon Ball Z 2: Super Battle is a 2D sci-fi fantasy fighting game developed by Banpresto (along with both Cobra Team and Magical Formation) and released by Banpresto for arcades in 1994.

The direct sequel to the 1993 fighting game Dragon Ball Z (which itself is based on the earliest Dragon Ball Z arcs of the Dragon Ball manga and anime series), Super Battle features characters and locales from the "Android Saga" arc of the series.

It also brings the gameplay more in-line with traditional fighting games, adding a traditional four-button layout (two punches and two kicks, each of which can be combined for more powerful attacks) and a manually-chargeable super meter while removing the free-flight system. It also adds a two-stage system, where players can knock opponents into the air (for air-based combat) or back on the ground (a system later used in Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension).
