Back in Time for More Craziness 0

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a prequel to the previous game in the series, Wolfenstein: The New Order, the former takes place a couple of months before the latter. The world came to a point where the Nazi forces are winning, and the US Army sends BJ Blazkowicz to Castle Wolfenstein, on an infiltrating mission. Where he needs to recover some secret documents. The story is straightforward and direct, and you’ll go through a linear path, meeting new characters each time you hit a new area. If...

    Wolfenstein: The Old Blood 0

A worthwhile bit of DLC that serves as a fun (but narratively unessential) prologue to 2014's The New Order. It can stand on its own no problems, too - if you're looking to play a CliffsNotes version of Wolfenstein, this is absolutely the way to go.70% of the game feels exactly like TNO, but the last act is full of unexpected twists and turns that make me wish the entire game had focused on the supernatural - it had a distinctly Indiana Jones vibe. A much-improved mech section was also a welcome...

Second verse same as the first, yet with some minor adjustments. 0

After my experience with Wolfenstein: The New Order one may think that my venture into this franchise would be completely over. I thought so too because that game simply got to the point where it wasn't fun anymore. The only reasons I didn't outright hate it were because it wasn't completely broken, plus it still had some good moments that couldn't be overlooked, such as the visuals and carnage. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood which is a prequel to The New Order is more of the same, but for some reas...

A Weak Beginning, a Weaker End, and an Adequate Middle 0

The first chapter of Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a partial reboot of the first episode of Wolfenstein 3D. The Old Blood is a reboot of the first chapter of Return to Castle Wolfenstein which was a reboot of the first episode of Wolf3D. The fat nazi lady who turns into a poop golem even returns, except this time she doesn't turn into a poop golem and she has a sad, humanizing back story as told in diary entries scattered around the realm despite showing none of this depth in person. So, I real...

Wolfenstein The Old Familiar Feeling 0

I held off on buying this game for a long time, despite having already played through the entirety of the rest of the Wolfenstein series all the way back to the first 2D games (although I never quite finished the very first ones). That may have been a mistake, because this is an absolutely fantastic entry to the series, but perhaps it was okay to wait until now?I really enjoyed the callback to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which was the game that first introduced me to the series, along with all...

Everything old isn't exactly new again 0

Before The New Order, there was The Old Blood. While this prequel wasn't that great, at least it sure was interesting. Terror Billy's attempt on overthrowing the Nazis in an alternate WWII sounds very interesting at least. The game can get difficult at points, especially when defeating the beast at the end, but it is otherwise an enjoyable prequel for the most part. You should play this before The New Order. It's the law, I believe. Don't make me stab you in the back with a knife....
