Okay, some time by mid October I'll have bought Gears of War 3 and Dues Ex: Human Revolution. However, I'm having some difficulty deciding which one to buy FIRST. I don't have the money to buy either one of them right now, but i will by the time Gears comes out on the 20th.
SO
I decided to ask a bunch of random internet strangers which game i should buy first. What do you guys think?
Xbox 360
Platform »
The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Deus Ex or Gears 3?
Do you want a story/stealth focused RPG, or a third person shooter?
If it helps, Deus Ex can last upwards of 30-ish hours in one playthrough, whereas Gears will probably be closer to 10-ish. But that has multiplayer, which Deus Ex does not.
Those are pretty different games there. Depends on how much you enjoy third person cover-based multiplayer shooting compared to a first person shooter RPG with branching paths and no multiplayer. Personally, I'm terrible at Gears multi and don't like it much so I'd go with DEHR
They are two vastly different games, but my personal choice would be Deus Ex (three times over). I personally find the Gears of War games to be terribly boring and predictable.
Which to buy first? Definitely Gears, just cause multiplayer games are always more exciting at release, and slowly dwindle. With SP games it hardly matters at all, unless it's so huge that EVERYBODY is talking about it, but that is not Deus Ex haha
@ninjadude853: Oh man, Gears. Totally Gears. In terms of a game that isn't horribly flawed, will actually work, is worth replaying more than once, and will have an interesting story not played out in hammy poorly-rendered cutscenes, Gears.
Deus later, when it's dropped at least half its price. Wait about two/three months.
Deus Ex Human Revolution. If you already played Gears 1 and 2.LOL if he already played gears 1 and 2 doesn´t he wanne finish gears 3?

DUDE BUY GEARS OF WAR!
Multiplayer is going to be amazing.
Singleplayer has co op.
Must have game. People who dislike gears are the same people that get shot up by the shotgun everytime they spawn.
Like others said, do you want a long story-based RPG shooter with immense focus on stealth gameplay, or a third person locust shooter with deathmatch multiplayer?

Like i said, I'm going to get both by the end of October. And it probably should be Gears because my Gold membership runs out on October 9th. But i'm kind of sick of shooters. Not sick enough that i don't want to get the game, but sick enough that i kind of want to play the stealth rpg more. I also don't want to play Dues right before i get the new Assassins Creed, because i don't like to play two similar games in a row. Not that Dues and Creed are overly similar, but both have a focus on stealth, which i enjoy, but after spending 30 plus hours doing that on Dues, I'll probably want to spend a couple of weeks shooting stuff and blowing shit up.
Yeah, it's probably gonna be Dues Ex.
@pornstorestiffi said:I played Gears 1 and 2, and i have no intention on buying the third one. I never played Gears for the story. And i don't give two shits about the bleak characters. So if he want a mediocre story, he should get Gears 3 by all means. But if he wan't something slightly deeper to sink into, DX:HR is the winner.
Seriously?!? How do you know that?If you live in the US you might be interested to know that Deus Ex is $35 next week at Toys R Us. I'd jump on that.
Um... Gears of War 3 has Ice fucking T in it.

I don't know if it was announced or just posted by someone who works there and saw next week's ad already. The site is very trustworthy for stuff like that and since the thread is stickied the user who posted is probably reliable.

Oh Deus Ex is far more different then Assassin's Creed. Staying out in the open will get you killed in Deus Ex VERY quickly. In Assassin's Creed, its easy to just quickly go and stab the faces of dudes one after another. Deus Ex can be played like a shooter though so you might have to get used to that.

I'd pick Gears 3. Then again, I'm still playing Gears 2 after almost 3 years and found the beta to outshine Gears 2 multiplayer in all respects, so I'm bias :P.
Yup, confirmed. You can see the ad for the week starting tomorrow here. 9/11 ad. It's on page 3 in the lower left.@louiedog said:

That's what you want from Gears, get good at it, and kill the countless number of noobs.

THANK YOU. I never would have found this on my own.
Gears 3 can potentially give you more playtime in the long run with the co op/multiplayer but Deus Ex is a great experience.
Personally I (probably) prefer Gears over Deus, I'm done with Deus now and have no intention of ever touching it again.
@louiedog said:I'm glad I could help. I try to be a savvy consumer and keep up with these sales. Luckily I happened to see your thread.@ninjadude853 said:It starts tomorrow!?! AWESOME. I rolled around the maps, dodging bullets and blasting "noobs", so what now?

I played that GOW3 beta for longer then I have most multiplayer games.
I didn't get bored.
AHHHHH THE HYPE

It's about having fun and gears 3 delivers. The beta was great. Never got bored.
But you gotta get good at it. F ing noobs complained to much after gears 1 and look what happend to the sad piece of shit that is gears 2.
Now gears 3 is going to bring the series back to its former glory.
Considering the fact that there are two teams of people, I need the game to utilize the existence of these two groups and integrate work that we can accomplish as a team, you know, teamwork. It's such a shame and a waste for me to be on a team with other people and not use that in some way. It's like "There's 10 or 20 people on each team and.. that's it. it's like deathmatch, except you're divided into two teams".@AhmadMetallic said:

Also, considering the fact that video games are evolving and getting bigger in every way, I'd imagine a multiplayer game might try to emulate the goodness that is singleplayer, by giving me big detailed maps rather than a couple of closed off blocks to run around. Which naturally necessitates bigger numbers of people which, like i said, should be something a triple-A 2011 game strives to provide.

Get Gears 3. I beat Deus Ex and Gears will probably last longer with its amazing multiplayer.
Mass Effect 3, because you like Garrus.Dude i can't freaking wait for Mass Effect 3. It is going to be utterly AWESOME. Hell, i'm going to the midnight release.

Never cared for Gears multi-player so I'm going with Deus Ex. Getting it
end of Sept on my bday. I can wait on Gears 3 for later. The first one
was great, but never got the same fever for Gears 2 & haven't even
completed it yet. At this point, I feel I need to go back & play Gears 1
just to remember what it was all about & not feel disjointed.
Deus Ex is $35 over on Amazon for the week. Get it here!
