The living room is the place in the house you're most likely to "hang out" in. It usually has a couch, chairs, and most importantly TV's, VCR's, stereos, and video game consoles and games.
The dining room is a room specifically used for people to eat in. Usually contains a table, chairs, and periodically, food.
Halls, also called hallways or corridors, are areas that connect rooms. Not much happens here except people going from one room to another, but in some games the player sees little else.
Ballrooms are places specifically for people to dance in. Some large mansions and public buildings may have one. I heard AC/DC has the biggest ballroom of them all.
A place to buy alcoholic beverages and to mingle/meet with non player characters. Bars in games are sometimes essential to advance the plot, or recruit party members. Bars are the modern equivalents of taverns. You see taverns in fantasy games and bars in modern/sci-fi games.

Excessively large and luxurious houses, usually built on several thousand square feet.

Germany is a country in Central Europe which borders eight countries and is one of the founding members of the European Union. Most World War II-themed games take place in a (mostly caricatured) Nazi-Germany (1939-1945), whether they are RTS or FPS. Frequently, Nazi villains are stereotypical Germans.
One of the traditional seven continents, Europe is a favorite source of video game settings. In the real world, European countries have produced a host of notable developers and publishers, and compose a large gaming market.
A common place in Survival Horror video games. Burial grounds for the deceased. Or zombies.
Antarctica is Earth's southernmost continent. The South Pole is also located there.
Lave is a fictional star system in the Elite universe. It was the starting point in the original Elite and has made appearances in every game in the series since.
