In an interview with gametrailers.com, when asked about the development status and exclusive rights concerning Rockstar's Agent, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton refrained from giving out any details other than affirming Agent is still very much a thing. While acknowledging the impact Rockstar's GTA series had on the PS2, Tretton left the possibilities for Agent's multi-platform release open to Take Two. "I'm not sure where we are going to end up on that (exclusivity), again, that probably is a better question for Rockstar. But I think we'll be very pleased with the PS3 offering when it comes to market."
It's not a bad sign when Rockstar isn't showing off their new IP at an E3 conference, as that is simply the way they like to play ball, on the QT, and it seems to be working well for them looking at their major successes in the past decade. It certainly good to hear Agent is still in the works and looking at the statements Tretton made, I think it fairly safe to assume whatever deal was made between Sony and Rockstar has either expired or is still to be made definite close to finishing the product. Whatever the outcome, let it be soon, let it be good and let it be profitable as Rockstar keeps pushing standards to new heights, not just for the industry, but to themselves as well, in an almost masochistic way.
Rock on.
Agent
Game » consists of 1 releases.
A third-person action game by Rockstar North, focused on the covert war fought by US and Soviet spies during the late '70s. Announced as a PS3 exclusive in 2009, specifics of the game have remained classified.
Tretton inconclusive about Agent's PS3 exclusivity
This happened with LA Noire. It was a PS3 exclusive when it was announced, but Rockstar took their time with development and their timed exclusivity deal with Sony was up before release. So Rockstar basically fucked Sony up? I have a hard time believing they would do such a dirty trick. In this harsh economy it's good not to burn your bridges.

I think Rockstar just takes a long time with their games. If there was some timed exclusivity contract in place, I doubt they would miss the window on purpose. If they wanted to do that, they could just turn down the offer in the first place. Rockstar has enough clout at TTwo to have their say.

I heard that Sony was set to publish the game originally, but the deal fell apart because of bad blood between Phil Harrison and Team Bondi's Brendan McNamera, who originally worked for Sony on The Getaway.
Kinda would make sense, since in 2004 McNamera said they were working with SCEA (even though SCEE would be what you would expect, them being in Australia and all) and then they got picked up by the newly formed SCE WWS led by Harrison.
All a rumor though.
Wasn't it more with LA Noire that Sony didn't really want to foot the bill for the game and then Rockstar stepped in to finish it. I would think there is more to these deals not staying in place than Rockstar taking a long time to make them. It would be really bad business for them if they were shafting Sony on a contract. I have no idea what the situation is with it but it will probably end up multi platform might even end up on the Wii U.
