Angelo Badalementi rose to fame in 1986 by composing the score for David Lynch's film, Blue Velvet. He went on to compose the scores for many other Lynch works, and gained a legendary status among composers (he eventually won the Liftetime Achievement Award at the World Soundtrack Awards in 2008).

David Cage wanted something different than the standard fare for it's soundtrack. He was a particularly big fan of Angelo Badalamenti's work, and contacted him about the possibility of him producing a score for the game. Badalamenti accepted, and composed the score for Indigo Prophecy. The soundtrack of the game is praised by video game fans and music critics alike.
