If HR Geiger made a GBA Kart Racer

The anthropomorphization of ants in the film Antz seeks to recontextualize the contemporary world. A world that exists within our own but is right below us. A world filled with epic adventure and tragedy.

Antz Extreme Racing for the GBA has some of this. A hand comes from the sky as you drive to the horizon and aims a beam of sunlight directed from a magnifying glass. Pickups include a wasp, which scoops you up and deposits you ahead of the pack, sometimes into a wall.

Consisting of about 8 point-to-point races, you take control of 1 of 4 characters from the movie, each one in some sort of kart, it's unclear how they propel themselves forward.

It's a bizarre trip from one end of the game world to the other. Mushy controls, unpredictable powerups, and a limited draw distance make for a frustrating play experience.

Why are the Antz racing, why is it extreme? These questions haunt the player as they slam into the wall yet again.
