    Overview

Apocalypse Abyss is an overhead action/puzzle game by Alexis Janson, released in 1994 for MS-DOS under the Software Visions label.

The player controls Ashtar, a dwarf from the land of Ruidia, whose home land has been cursed and his fellow dwarves abducted by the wizard Niche. In order to rescue them, he must journey into the Apocalypse Abyss and solve its many puzzles.

The Abyss is divided into six dungeons, each of which contain ten levels. Accessing the final dungeon, Asmodeus, requires the player to have first obtained the artifacts from the other five. Completing some levels requires the player to make use of knives or bombs scattered about, or collecting numbered item blocks in the correct order.

Much like Janson's other two DOS games, Labrynth of Zeux and MegaZeux, Apocalypse Abyss includes a level editor, allowing players to create their own challenges.
