Steve Jobs is one of the few people who actually changed the world. R.I.P. Steve, and thank you for all your innovations.

Steve Jobs was a genius. Whether or not you like Apple, they made billions for a reason. It wasn't a fluke.
This is absolutely true. I don't personally use many Apple things but he has certainly changed how I interact with the internet and with media. He did a fantastic job and I wish we could have seen what he could do in the future. I did not like all he did, or much of how he did it but I will miss his impact and definitely feel others should too.
We would be in a worse place (technologically speaking) without him and his influence on Apple.
RIP Steve.

Pffft, this isn't news, Klepek. Why don't you go post this shit on your blog and leave the real news to the professional journalists?
Pffft this isn't a post, gladspooky. Why don't you post this shit on a microsoft fanboy site and leave the real comments to people who respect a major influence in the evolution of technology.
He invented the idea of a desktop, revolutionized the music industry through the iPod and iTunes while bringing about the decline of the CD, created a whole new breed of phone with the iPhone, and changed computing with the iPad. I own none of these devices, but the world of technology would be unknowably different without his contribution.
Man I'm so bummed out. I was hoping he could use those billions
of his to buy another 20 years of life. This is a big loss for everyone.
I hope that his talent went into his children & that perhaps one of them
will pick up the mantle & run with it? We can always hope. I'll definitely
be picking up some books about him & his business strategy. Probably
he should be required reading for any would-be visionaries. RIP, Steve.

Two people caught by an obvious joke. I'm in the zone!
While I don't always agree with his feelings on the Tech Industry at large, and don't really enjoy a lot of Apple Products, the man was a leading force in recognizing great advancements in Technology, and helped push for a lot of them. Just because I don't like Apple PCs or the platform, doesn't mean it's not an astounding subsection of technology.
Apple, and likely the tech world at large, have lost someone very impactful to the industry.

Fucking eh man.
he is one of the few people who knew before he died that he had touched the lives of millions of people. Love apple or hate apple, you would not even have the chance to do so if it were not for him. He was a industry changer.
RIP

Er, yeah, he was a genius and that, but wasn't this a videogames website?
Dude helped create Breakout and has created the iOS platform, one of the biggest gaming markets today.
I'm not fond of apple, but the drive and motivation this man had was astounding.

@gladspooky You have just guaranteed that no one will ever care when you die :)
Hey, man, every article Patrick writes has to have a "blah, this isn't news!" post somewhere in the comments. I'm just helping out.
I'm a PC. And I am very much saddened by this. He was very much visionary and daring, making the bold move of making Computers for the regular person at a time when the idea was laughed at, and it's because of this that technology is what it is today.
I don't act like I know what happens when you die, but whatever it may be, may he be at peace.

Not news? Company worth nothing in the 90's turned around to be one of the biggest tech companies in existence now, owing largely to his influence. I found this story on this site before any other, and I'm grateful to Patrick for that so I think you might have fallen the wrong side out of bed this morning.

Serious? I may not agree with everything Apple has done, but you can't sit there and pretend he didn't do great things. I'll take you iPod and smartphone now. I know I would go crazy without those technological advancements.
Some people...
MP3 players existed and were just fine before the mediocre iPod. The companies that manufactured them simply didn't pay the money Apple did for marketing.
