3D Realms Out Of Business?

Heavy rumor reports that Duke Nukem Forever's developer has shut its doors.

You can't see it, but me and this dude are holding ALWAYS BET ON DUKE poker chips. Also, this was taken at E3 in 1998. Yeah. 1998.

Wow. So... Shacknews is reporting via a "very reliable source" that 3D Realms has been shut down due to funding issues. The Apogee name, which was recently brought back, is also said to be defunct.

We'll do some digging and see what turns up. So far, sounds like no one's commenting one way or the other.

I'd laugh if another company tries to buy the rights to the game and actually complete it.  Atari, the time is now.

Duke Nukem WILL come out. I follow the twitter of one of the DNF devs and he always posts update about the game "working on the menu, controls" Hes convinced me.

This game is real, It will come out somehow, somewhere!

It could be worse. They could have shipped Duke Nukem Forever early and make us put up with a ton of bugs while waiting for a patch to arrive. Thank God for the "when its done" mentality.

Ah 1998, now that was a great year. Oh, and Jeff you look sooooo wasted in that photo.

As far as the shutting down of 3D Realms goes.... well... I can't say I am totally surprised. I've often wondered how they've managed to stay in business for about the last decade.
