Blacklight: Tango Down 2 Is In Development

The downloadable game you may not have played yet is already getting a sequel.

Are you a fan of Blacklight: Tango Down? It's possible you haven't even had the opportunity to make a judgement call one way or the other: the multiplatform downloadable shooter was released on XBLA last week, and only just came to Games For Windows Live today. It still hasn't come to Steam or the PlayStation Network, but it should launch on those platforms in the coming weeks.

So, there's a good chance you haven't played the game yet. But even if you haven't, someone out there totally has, and it sounds like there were enough of those fans out there to keep Zombie Studios working on Blacklight. The team revealed to Big Download that the team was already starting development on the sequel to Blacklight: Tango Down.

See this screenshot from the first game? Imagine if there was a giant robot behind these dudes. That's what the sequel looks like.

And Blacklight: Tango Down 2 will be the only way you'll get any additional Blacklight content. Zombie Studios CEO Mark Long told Big Download that there were no plans to add additional DLC to Blacklight (other than patches to fix bugs). All available resources are being directed toward a more ambitious sequel, which will add larger maps and drivable robot vehicles to the action.

Blacklight: Tango Down 2 is aiming for a Summer 2011 release window, and while no platforms have been announced, it's a good bet that Blacklight 2 will be released on the same platforms as its recently released predecessor. We'll see how the sequel turns out next year, which will hopefully give you time to actually play the first game and figure out if you want a sequel.

What.. i find this interesting considering that the community died within the first 24 hours of release.. that and you cant find it in every region and sometimes it dosnt turn up on the dashboard at all... it was a pretty terrible release and an even worse game.. if its multiplayer only and the community is dead because of a bumbled up launch then forget about it.

okay, this is weird... while I wasn't that interested in the first one after the quicklook, I was still concidering a purchace, and I find it odd for them to announce a sequel with ADDED FEATURES before the first one's even been out for a little while...
this press statement should have came 2 or 3 months from now...

It totally makes me not want to buy the first game, cause i'd rather play the second one with the NEW FEATURES!!

Before they make a sequel, they should fix the FIRST fucking game. A good week after release and it still takes a good ten minutes to get into a game that only ends up having six people (instead of the max 18). And frequently the matches are 6 or 8 people against 1 or 3. BORING.
