Borderlands 2's Mechromancer Class Drops Today

Can't wait to start playing as her. I don't really like any of the special abilities other than the soldiers so it's good to get a similar class.

Thrilled to get the new class a week early. I suspected as much when Randy Pitchford tweeted there'd be a big surprise last night.

Played a bit, unlocked Deathtrap and gave him a whirl. He is magnificent. He stays out for a really long time. His cool down is a minute long, but there is a skill to reduce that. He does good damage, distracts the enemies, and looks badass while doing so. I will continue to main Axton, but the mechromancer might just become my second 'go to' class.

but.... but... we just beat the game. we are cleaning up some side missions and then it is time to play the other 100 kick ass games coming out. Gotta move on.

Health regen with a full mag is pretty awesome.

As is a robot.

Mechro was the class I wanted to play most. I am glad she is pretty good. Though the Anarchy tree is a bit...blech

Damn, preorder or not. Still shitty for people who bought the season pass. If they want to offer preorder bonuses then they should release them at launch.

I've been pretty excited for this but man there's a lot of real good stuff to play right now to be going back to another game.

I think I may be a bit Borderlanded out at this point. I'll look into the campaign DLC but I've had enough Borderlands for now.

They should increase the player count or someone should mod or into the PC version. I'd love to see what it'd be like with about 12 vault hunters.

They should at least increase it to 5 now.

I wish she was released on day one, because I'd totally play as her. I'm about 3/4 through the game and havent touched it in a few days, so it's unlikley I'll play it again anytime soon.

@iAmJohn: I'm sure some one may have pointed this out already but, if you do a bit of research you'd know that they only started working on her after the game had gone gold. So yeah they created a whole new class after they'd finished the game making your should should have been base argument a bit moot.

Steam is currently downloading this as I'm posting. Looking forward to trying it out.

Just came back from a GI article saying that the Badass Rank reset bug is back alongside the Mechromancer update. Immediately paused that shit. Although it's still unknown if it's actually directly related... Please fix this issue Gearbox!

Borderlands 2 just got about 20% cooler!

No, a scam would be if they gave you a copy of the game "Civ V", which is some shitty shovelware that they developed and named that to intentionally mislead consumers.

Preorders are a way of incentivising consumers' good will. I believe that Gearbox will put out a quality product, and they offer a reward for that. Saying it doesn't benefit consumers is nonsense because it's not like they would've put it out for free if not for preorders, they would've just charged EVERYone.

It's actually not, it's just a little weird because the Season Pass does specify that it's for four future CAMPAIGNS, not ALL future DLC.

Most of the time preorder "benefits" are some trivial bullshit that doesn't affect your game one way or another. But there are some games I know I'm going to want to get day one so why wouldn't I preorder? And games I'm talking about are games I'd buy even if all the reviews said they suck, even if I didn't preorder. And if there is some cool bonus like, Civ V, I don't see a problem there.

I agree, typically preorders are bit of a "scam" but the situation has gotten better and publishers have learned from past mistakes and offer something worth while now, like Mechromancer Class.

@iAmJohn: Does it matter when you buy it when you know the product will be good? Aside from the bonuses you support the developer before the release. With a reputation as Gearbox Software's and constant release of game footage, you know that they will deliver anyway.

Just had a mess around with the new class & I must say I quite like it.

Neat, me and a friend just finished the game today.

Well, for European PS3 owners we're most likely still going to have to wait till tomorrow as usual. I'm in no rush at least; still need to finish up my Maya (and I've also got my Salvador alt), but I'll probably start up another playthrough just to reach the early levels and tinker with her robot a bit anywhoo.

I would be more into this like a week ago. I'm deep into XCOM now.

Minor correction: Gaige is actually available earlier than the article mentions. I turned on my Xbox around 3 AM (PST) this morning and was surprised that the DLC option had a "new" highlight on it, and voila! This doesn't matter so much after the first few hours that the news is up.

With some of the enemies in this game evading constantly (particularly those shield surveyors), I am all about classes that home in with their action skills.

It's not part of the season pass, and was only offered as free for people that pre-ordered. Everyone else has to pay.

It hasn't been released on PC or Ps3 yet though has it? How can there be issues?

I'd heard on the forums that it was out on Steam and there were issues, so my intention was to say there were issues for all platforms it had been released on. If that's not the case, then sorry for not verifying further. Just wanted people to be careful.

Played the class up to level 10 and it's pretty good.

Do you like mechs? Do you like romance? Well, too bad on the second part, because that's not really what a mechromancer does. So what does a mechromancer do? You'll find out today when the newest class for Borderlands 2 drops across all platforms.

For $10 (800 MS Points), anyone will be able to download the new, fifth class once the DLC hits the in-game shop--which it reportedly already has for Xbox 360 and PC users. Anyone who grabbed one of the Premier Club editions of the game will receive the new class for free.

So what is the mechromancer, exactly? The mechromancer is a girl, Gaige, who controls a mechanized buddy named Deathtrap. Deathtrap has a variety of intriguing skills and abilities, many of which you can suss out by checking out Gaige's skill tree, which Gearbox handily posted here. I actually had the chance to spend a little time messing around with Gaige last week, and found her to be one of my better-liked classes. She reminds me a bit of the commando class, albeit with a turret that actively seeks out and punches/blasts enemies, as opposed to remaining stationary. She's definitely a neat addition to the game.

The mechromancer is, of course, just the first piece of DLC headed to Borderlands 2. As of now, she's the only class addition announced for the game, but Gearbox reps I spoke to didn't entirely rule out the possibility of more classes down the road, though nothing is planned currently.
