Capcom Confirms Resident Evil 6 Leaked Out

I didn't like the demo, it's more like an pure action game now.. however I have never missed one so I am going to give it a try.

Hopefully they are able to contain how much "suck" leaked out from the demo when this gets released.

If this goes onto torrent sites, i hope it will serve a lesson that PC piracy is not the only problem.

What an embarrassment. Even completely ignoring the debate regarding the game itself, a big-name publisher like Capcom should be more together than this.

i've played every RE game since 2 on launch day, and i've never been more excited for an RE game in my whole life. i really like the cinematic style they're going for.

i've played the demo, and the gameplay wasn't without flaws, but it wasn't so bad the series is going to TANK and DIE like some drama queens on here seem to think. the controls were definitely smoother than RE4 and 5. when do demos ever really give a game justice anyway? i've read the reviews on people who played the game for 7 hours, and there was definitely a lot more positive feedback then from people who played the 15 min ones.

I absolutely adore the resident evil characters, and universe - as zany and plot hole-y as it is. i'm really excited to see what happens in RE6, so i can forgive some imperfections. i know i'm going to love it.

Man, I really liked RE5.... but not too stoker on this game...

Virtually every game is leaked a few days early, I don't really see what the big deal is. I mean I got the first Mass Effect at a K-Mart 3 weeks ahead of retail completely legitimately. A lot of people did, actually.

I'm all for off-the-cuff stream of consciousness fun time journalism, but that's two, maybe three sentences.

My understanding is that RE5 has great co-op but in singleplayer it's nigh-on unplayable. I can attest to it from my playthrough, the team AI is outright broken. Plus RE5 definitely had a worse inventory system than 4. I think that's basically it though, it's a co-op focused game in a predominantly single-player series, that in focusing on co-op made the single-player worse.

Think Lost Planet 2 against Lost Planet: Extreme Condition. Then pretend you were a massive fan of Extreme Condition so when LP2 comes along it's like... dude. The fuck is this shit. Even though it's a very nice co-op semi-Monster Hunter in space. It's not a good Lost Planet game by fans' metrics.

I think Resident Evil 6 is just continuing that kind of distillation of what fans remembered and liked about 4. Plus, a lot of people grew up with Resident Evil in an age where it was considered survival-horror, and since these games are blatantly action games by today's standards, they complain. Even though, rose-tinted glasses off, the original Resident Evil games aren't horror games at all. I don't know, I think it's just not what "core" fans want from Resident Evil as a series. Same as why any sequel to popular games will no doubt face some kind of backlash - nothing will ever live up to the originals in the jaded eyes of their a lot of their core audience. Simple.

As a great fun of Resident Evil series i hope this part will be little bit better than part 5 and specially than part 4 who was in my opinion the worst of all.

Here would be my counter example to the "lots of people can't make something shitty" argument.

The IMDB cast and crew list of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen--a movie made, presumably, by lots and lots of adults that is pretty much a piece of loud, obnoxious shit.

@Brodehouse: Isn't there like no gameplay in the Leon part of the demo? While I agree demos should reflect the game to decent degree, I find most of the atrocious and not fun, even for games I like a lot.

In this day and age is this even possible to stop? I don't think there has not been a major game that has not been leaked in some form or another. I wonder if anyone has charted or studied the repercussions of games getting leaked.

Like I said 9 minutes ago, I have this weird hope that they rejiggered the entire core gameplay to something fun. But the RESIDENT EVIL 6 DEMO I have isn't very fun.

If a person can't make a quality judgement based on a demo, then what's the point of demos whatsoever? I played an hour of that demo, how long would you feel is enough, the entire game?

@Yummylee: Oh, I think Downpour is a pretty middling experience all around, but there's a difference between middling and awful. That game has its problems (monster variety, subpar puzzles, the ending) and its merits (very well performed, some good sidequests, weapon system), but I judge it on its own merits, not how much it conforms to whatever my ideals about Silent Hill are.

People are already talking shit about that Vita one, because (once again) it's not Silent Hill 2 so how dare they? I'll judge it on its merits. People were talking shit about RE6 as soon as they possibly could. I didn't form an opinion until I played that demo. And my problem isn't this isn't RE4! It's that this game isn't any kind of fun.

I still have this weird, fading hope that they saw the reaction and went into some crazy crunch to get it to something approaching fun. I'll probably wind up disappointed.

I hated RE5, odds are I'll hate this. And I have a good enough idea to know from the demo and my personal tastes that I'll probably hate this. I'd honestly rather play Nemesis, or RE2, or REmake over anything that has been put out from this series in recent years. Plus truth be told I don't like Capcom as a company and they have some incredibly shitty business practices that need to change before I buy another one of their games.

In short, I have some fucks but none of them to give to their "plight". Capcom can go fuck themselves either way.

Honestly, with the ton of gameplay videos already available, I'm wondering what's left to spoil. I was never a huge fan of the series (my favorite time spent with it was actually watching my brother work through RE1 and 2), but what I have seen so far hasn't gotten me anymore excited to try it. Would be happy to be proven wrong with a good release/surprising reviews, but I have a feeling we all know what we are getting with this one.

So some people get to be disappointed a month early?

well that's a bummer I guess. I'll still check the game out. The demo was alright and the trailers seemed to show it well.

What are the negative effects of the game tanking? Nevermind how it relates to just you and only you, but I'm guessing that you're assuming it's failure will result in something in the future that you like when in reality (or based on history) that's very unlikely. It's worth the risk in my opinion. I don't need other people to share my view on the matter that's why I , the keyword being " I ", hope it fails so it shows that Capcom needs to take a Resident Evil break or make some drastic changes. Could those changes make the series worse? Of course but at least changes are being made to the formula.

@Yummylee: Great counterexample you got there. I stand by what I said - 600 talented professionals don't make garbage. Never have. The Old Republic wasn't great, but it was well-made, which this game will be.

If anything, the actual developers of RE6 are probably despairing over the AWFUL fucking marketing campaign for this game. The people responsible for crafting RE6 are NOT the same people responsible for showing it off, and the latter group is probably filled with misguided, incompetent functionaries.

I've never even played a Resident Evil game in my life, but I see this time and again - PR for games is a sham, and can as often make garbage look great (see Steel Batallion) as it can make something okay look like shit (the likely truth of RE6). And still, gamers flay the bad marketing and conflate it with a bad game.

They were sold in regular stores - so were they really stolen or were just shipped really early and street date got broken.

As for pirate copies. They are PS3 so the impact is not going to be massive even if they do get out.

I'm a big Resident Evil fan but I hope this game tanks. Everything shown so far seems bad.

@Yummylee: A demo is still just a demo. Perhaps the story (Hah!) or the combat mechanics make better sense in context, or can be adjusted to a better-feeling configuration.

Oh, c'mon. Those are two completely different situations. Hitman: Absolution blew up with a load of hate because of some questionable interviews and statements, like ''we want to make the game more linear'', but once gameplay footage started being released everybody was simmering down and currently a lot of people are now very optimistic towards Absolution.

RE6 is the complete opposite. It drawn in everyone with that awesome announcement trailer, and then the playable demo was released... And then aaaaaaall of those gameplay trailers were released. People have played or have at the very least seen a lot of RE6 footage. More than enough to at least spring to some sort of impression on the game. Which looks pretty bad. Ah I think Resi6 will be fine, I didn't hate 5 quite enjoyed it a lot and although I still much prefer old-school slow paced survival horror resident evil the series just maintains a sense of absolute stupidity and absurdity that remains compelling regardless of how they decide to design its pacing/mechanics.
