Disney Interactive Studios confirmed the cancellation yesterday afternoon following a rumor report from Kotaku stating that the game was axed and people lost their jobs. Here's the boilerplate statement from DIS, which mentions that the publisher has "completed a restructuring of Propaganda Games" that has affected "one of the studio's two development teams."
Disney Interactive Studios confirms the cancellation of the Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned video game which was scheduled to be released in 2011. As a result of this decision, Disney Interactive Studios completed a restructuring of Propaganda Games, its Vancouver, BC internal studio, affecting one of the studio's two development teams.
The studio is still in active production of Tron: Evolution, the video game, which will be released on December 7, 2010 with additional DLC (downloadable content) support following the game's release.

Armada of the Damned apparently looked good when Jeff saw it briefly earlier this summer, and critics seem to agree that it had potential despite being one of those dreaded movie games. You can read Jeff's take on it here if you'd like, though, you might leave it feeling a bit blue considering what has happened.
I'm still sad. Remeber that Pirates of the Caribbean game Bethesda published back on the original Xbox and PC? With boat battles, weather effects, storms and with wind blowing in the sails, dialogues, exploration, city ports, million of game bugs and all that good stuff? We need something like that again, without the million of game bugs.

Was kinda looking forward to this there are not enough good pirate games out there and a pirate RPG really would have been cool. I'm probably aomong the minority but kinda wished they got rid of tron and kept this
Feel sorry for people at Propaganda Games as it looked to be an interesting title. Pirate rpg sounds great, the art was really strong and a strong IP. Seams like a stupid move by Disney.
That's actually kinda a shame. I couldn't care less about the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' bit of the game but overall, from what little I saw, it looked promising. I was looking forward to seeing more about it.
Damn, so they decided to cancel on of the few actually decent sounding movie tie-ins. You'd think anything with the Pirates name on it would sell like mad, odd.
When I read about this on Blues News a few days ago it made me sad. After hearing them talk about it on the bomb cast it sounded like it was going to be an awesome game.
Odd. I would have thought even a sub-par POTC game would have at least broken even. I have to assume it was either very over budget or behind schedule.
