DSiWare To Launch With Five Games

Two games with ties to WarioWare available at launch? Hell yeah.

Here's Bird & Beans.
Here's Bird & Beans.
Nintendo has confirmed that the DSi Shop, the online channel where you'll be able to purchase Nintendo Points and exchange them for DSiWare applications, will be available at the launch of the Nintendo DSi. In case you forgot, that launch is going down this Sunday, April 5.

But it wouldn't be much of a shop launch if you didn't have anything to buy. To that end, Nintendo will be releasing five games at launch:

WarioWare: Snapped is the star of the show, as far as I'm concerned. Nintendo brought this by our office a couple of weeks back and it got me all pumped about the DSi, much like every previous WarioWare game has gotten me pumped about whatever platform is running it. But that's not the only game with ties to WarioWare on the DSi store. Bird & Beans is actually Pyoro, the little arcade-like game that you could unlock in WarioWare.

The DSi web browser will also be available as a free download at launch.

Annoyingly, the only missing bit of info is the price for all of these apps, but it seems safe to assume that they'll go for the same price that they were released at in Japan. Art Style, for example, runs 500 points over there.

Interesting, you seem to have a slightly different line up in comparison the Europe. One title looks to have a different title also, I'm referring to Pyoro / Bird & Beans

Europe's line up:

Paper Plane: a simple - but utterly addictive - action game in which players have to guide their paper aircraft through mazes that get ever-harder to navigate 200 Nintendo Points

Pyoro: take control of Pyoro - a cute bird - as he tries to catch the fruit that falls from the top of the screen with his tongue! Player's find that if fruit hits the ground, a hole is made and Pyoro has an ever-shrinking area in which to move. But be careful ? a piece of fruit landing on Pyoro's head will mean that your game is over! 200 Nintendo Points

WarioWare: Snapped!: WarioWare: Snapped! games use the Nintendo DSi's inner camera to add to the gameplay. Using the camera's ability to detect motion, players must complete wacky and fun tasks within a set time limit by moving their hands and faces in front of the screen. Players have to work out the tasks they must complete based on clues at the start of each game. 500 Nintendo Points

Art Style: AQUITE - fun & challenging mini game that is perfect to play on the go, your aim is to help a little diver reach the bottom of the ocean, but getting to the bottom is more challenging than you may think! 500 Nintendo Points

Art Style: CODE - holding the Nintendo DSi sideways, like an open book the goal is to switch around and rearrange digits, then to add digits together so that they add up to 10. Once selected, the digits adding up to 10 will all disappear. Different modes play variations on this simple, yet addictive rule to ensure hours of number crunching fun! 500 Nintendo Points

Europe will be getting 1000 Nintendo Points free at launch, the points are redeemable when you log into the DSi Shop for the first time, for a limited time only.

Wario Ware: Snapped does look like it's a whole lotta fun, even watching people play is amusing. I think my GF will love it.

Man. It would have been nice if the DSi launched WHILE my Xbox 360 was broke. It would have given me something to play during this last month. The Wii sure enough hasn't kept me entertained.

So you can get warioware and 1 artstyle right away just by buying a dsi. Or both art style. Or all the others and an art style or warioware. Sweet.

As a huge fan of pretty much every series lined up here, I'm rather excited. For the record, Master of Illusion is an awesome piece of software.

Took a while but finally finished adding all the release dates to the different launch titles. Surprised me that i did not create a page for Paper Plane already.

I dont like the Wario Ware name...They could have done better.
In japan the old Warios were called "Made in Wario" or something like that and the DSi one "Made in You" but oh well...

It's strange that Australia had the the DSi launch yesterday(Thursday April 2nd) and US release is behind, usually it's the other way around and Nintendo were running ads for a few weeks before it came out, that never happens, we barely see game ads let alone "Coming Soon" ones. The ads are real creepy too, with people sitting on couches smiling stupidly at the DS though i can't remember if Nintendo said we would see the WiiWare store here.

I got my DSi yesterday (Australia ftw). The pricing and titles are the same as the European releases. The two 200 point games are really simple, not even using the touch screen. They are fun little time-wasters though. I haven't tried WarioWare yet though, I haven't been in good enough light yet.

The browser seems a lot like the Wii Browser, except that you have a zoomed out view on one screen and a zoomed in on the other (you can switch which is which).

Starting to wish I'd actually bought games for my Lite now, as they'll be what make the DSi fun. Looks like the sister will be getting that one.

[EDIT] Oh, and Pyoro is the same as Bird and Bean.

I think DSiWare is an awesome system and will have so amazing potential, but I really want Nintendo to announce that Virtual Console will be compatible with the DSi...if that ever becomes a reality, I'll be buying a DSi right away.
