Frank West to join Chuck Greene's fight to clear his name after the events of Dead Rising 2.
Capcom has put a number on how many units of Dead Rising 2: Case Zero has sold: over 500,000 in its few weeks on the market. These numbers scream sequel, and Capcom is listening, despite the fact that Case Zero is more of a primer instead of a traditional downloadable.
According to Joystiq, the publisher has announced Dead Rising 2: Case West, another downloadable game based in the Dead Rising 2 universe, at its Tokyo Games Show press event. It will feature Frank West, the first Dead Rising's protagonist, in a fight alongside the first downloadable's hero Chuck Greene to clear Greene's name after the events of Dead Rising 2.
Details are light, but Capcom did say that the title will be an Xbox 360 exclusive, much like Dead Rising 2: Case Zero before it. And while it's implied, Capcom and Blue Castle Games have yet to confirm co-op functionality. Siliconera, on the other hand, is reporting that it will indeed put player two in West's shoes.

According to Joystiq, Blue Castle Games' CEO Rob Baret said, "We take this responsibility very seriously. Capcom games have a certain flavor... we don't just want to make amazing games, we want to make amazing Capcom games." Fair enough.

Maybe it's because I haven't been paying attention to any information regarding the game, but did the trailer just spoil some of the events of DR2?
I mean, I thought all Chuck was doing was competing to get Katey some Zombrex... now he's blamed/wanted for the zombie outbreak? I guess this is what I get when I try to avoid information about the games I'm interested in and slip up when I see a tidbit that excites me (oh Frank West).
This is really awesome. I hadn't played the first one but I loved Case Zero. I'm looking forward to playing as Frank West. I've heard that he's covered wars and stuff.
I hate these exclusives :( If these downloadable episodes were coming to the PS3 I would buy the actual game but forget it. I'll wait a year for the game to drop in price and these episodes to come out on PSN.
fuckin GREAT news for Blue Castle, I bet those guys are over the moon. I don't think I've ever bought DLC, but I bought Case Zero n I'm probably gonna buy this. Even though Case:West is a pretty dumb name. They should've called it GO WEST.
Also this reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2's fun with Snake n Raiden.
Capcom sure was quick to respond to the critically well received sales of the game. With any luck, we could see a trend in lowering prices to attract more sales (which pretty much leads to more revenue).
Here's hoping they stop with this fucking exclusive shit and release it on every platform the game is supposed to release on. I bet if they did, that 500 000 would look a lot smaller in comparison. I know for certain it would have at least been 500 001 if they released it on PC.
This doesnt spoil anything... its been known since the beginning that the plot in the full game was Chuck trying to clear his name. The plot for Case Zero was to get your daughter Zombrex but in the full game thats only a side plot.
My beef with it is that I don't like the idea of providing a prologue and an epilogue to a game via DLC. Just seems like it should be part of the entire game. This totally kills any incentive to buy this on PS3 or PC because you're missing the setup and the conclusion of a game. That said, I will wait until the inevitable "Complete Edition" which includes everything.
What if the Mafia 2 WWII level was sold as DLC before the game shipped, and then the final mission was withheld leaving the story on a cliffhanger, to be sold as DLC later? Cause that's kind of what it sounds like to me.
This seems like an odd marketing ploy... making me spend 5 bucks on case zero, and then probably another 5 for this, not to mention full price for the game... it's almost like i'm spending $70 for the complete story...
Case Zero I didn't mind, as it was a teaser and it came out beforehand... not to mention the town in that game wasn't in the full game.
If Dead Rising 2 is still a good length, and still has a good ending, I won't be that upset, cause then this would be more like a DLC add-on, except sold as a standalone product.
Of course, I'm hoping that they give a free one-use download code to everybody who buys Dead Rising 2 new.

File size has shit all to do with it. I'd rather install a smaller game than a full 6.5GB disc image for no reason (I have at least a few games that clock in 2.5-4GB, yes, disc based games not XBLA). If the file size on Case West is a matter of KB, yes there's some trouble there.
Really hope there is in fact co-op in this, not that the co-op in the main game will leave me wanting...just something about having two different characters that will be nice, even if your Chucks look different from each other, they'll share the same face.
I must admit Case Zero was fun........... This looks Interesting as well......
Is this starting a trend?..... Can we be on the verge of a true episodic game? If the cost doesn't get ridiculous and stays at the $5, then possibly this could be the new business model?
