Fumito Ueda Says The Last Guardian Still in Development

We still don’t know if Fumito Ueda is an employee at Sony anymore, and while the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus designer has started talking on Twitter again, he hasn’t touched upon the rumors yet.

Instead, Ueda has simply reminded the world about Ico’s coincidental 10th anniversary (today!), and promised development on the oft-delayed The Last Guardian continues. He did not talk about his role on the project, but this may provide some hope.

Perhaps Ueda even nodding in the direction of the rumors is all we need to know for now.

Playing SotC for the first time on PS3 right now and I can't wait for The Last Guardian to be released, didn't really care before

@drowsap: I would have thought it was more likely that Sony really cares about The Last Guardian coming out but Team Ico want to make sure it meets up to their high standards and so are holding Sony off of forcing them to release it too quickly. Team Ico is surely Team Ico and they wouldn't want Sony hiring a whole load of unsustainable people to finish it quicker that might not carry their philosophy.

That's the easy explanation to imagine for the differences. Might be a whole lot different than that.

I swear most, if not all Japanese games are announced, pondered with, then development began soon after, stop it Japan.

I can wait for this game... Its gonna be worth it!!!

I still don't think this is a game.

I was really gutted when this game was delayed until 2013 but now I'm just praying they don't screw it up (and that the Guardian doesn't die although I know it will).

Hopefully this game will release next year.

I'm sure Sony is tightening the screws on the team to put out an update, but I want these guys to take as long as needed to make this a game that lives up to the almost unreachable hype it's going to have surrounding it. I'm glad to hear that Ueda's still got his hands on it and hasn't been distracted by side projects yet.

doesn't Sony have numbers on how well the ICO/SOTC collection sold this year?   I'm sure it did well enough to spur lots of interest in Last Guardian... They'd be idiots to cancel it and not release it.

If we see this game it won't be till 2014 I bet. Lucky if it comes out at all. I still want to play it, but to be honest it has fallen from my anticipated games list.

Hopefully they'll work a bit on the creature. The rooster legs are really not doing it for me with the beak action and ugh.. if it dies at this point, hey, no biggie..

To be fair, the game will sell for shit. Can't really blame Sony for being super nonchalant about it.

It'll be cool WHEN this comes out. I doubt I'll enjoy it as much as Shadow of the Colossus based on the escort vibe I'm getting from it that resembles Ico. However that'll be great for Ico super-fans. ... when it [eventually] comes out.

I have no clue where the escort vibe is at all...a dragon sized dog-griffin needs escorting? not so much.

Ueda: Well...

Some guy off in the corner: HOT SCOOPS! *leaves room to go post on the internet*

Ueda: Yeah, I guess so.
