Our official response is that the lights here are still on and the development team is working hard every day to get this game built. Team members are in the office seven days a week to deliver Stargate Worlds. Brad Wright is the Stargate expert and a creative consultant on Stargate Worlds who advises us on the story; unfortunately we had not recently updated him on our progress or the impact from the current global economic crisis, and he was not fully aware of the continuing progress on our game.The lights may still be on, but it sounds like they are pretty dim. Darren Summer, who broke the original story over at GateWorld was contacted by Cheyenne but decided not to run a follow up after the talk. Given that Summer writes for an actual fan site for Stargate, my guess is he's sticking to his guns over the likelihood of us seeing a Stargate MMO anytime soon. Balentine's admittance that the project is having some financial hurdles seems to give credence to GateWorld's report of developer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment not being able to pay its employees for several months, spurning the anonymously created days-since-cheyenne-mountain-employees-have-been-paid.com, which no longer exists.
In any case it looks like all we can assume for at the moment is that the Stargate MMO's future is uncertain. It looks like Cheyenne needs to raise some serious capital first to get the project back on tracks. MMOs usually sit on the more expensive side of game development and with the shaky launches of any MMO released last year called not named Warcraft, it might be a hard investment to sell.
