Giant Bomb's E3 2011 Game of the Show

We've made a choice!

It didn't take much discussion, so I'll keep it short. We've compared notes and decided to name BioShock Infinite as our Game of the Show for E3 2011. I'm sure you've already heard us talking about the game in various articles and podcasts, so I'll spare you the flowery language and instead point you to the interview we conducted with Irrational's Ken Levine during the show last week. It was probably one of my favorite moments of the show, and I'm not just saying that because it allowed me to sit down for a full half-hour.

BioShock Infinite showed extremely well during E3 last week and we're going to sit here and patiently wait for its final release sometime in 2012. Let's hope the final product turns out as well as the gameplay demo being shown behind closed doors at the 2K booth did. I hope that the full demo is eventually released for public consumption, as it really sets up a lot of interesting things about Columbia, its various factions, and some of the major players you'll encounter as you play.

Also, a quick programming note: We'll each be talking about some of the games that stood out to us at E3 over the course of this week, so watch out for that!

Why don't these demos get shown to the public? Is it because they reveal too much about the plot?

I am glad this is game of the show. As my main reason is that it is a narrative driven game and that it is Irrational Games. It was close with Battlefield 3, Assassins Creed Revelations and maybe a couple of others. What I have seen and read so for has really impressed me, especially the visual style and the world Irrational games have created.
I look forward when this game comes out and finally play it.

A) I'm surprised GB is doing a "game of show".

B) I thought Alex brought up a really valid point that was it really a game that you were shown or someone who rehearsed and interactive routine? I know you brought it up in your interview with Ken but it's still a valid point.

C) I don't think 2k is going to let this game release any earlier than fall of 2012. Temper the hype.

Other than this post, loved the E3 coverage. Kudos.

Excellent choice. From what I saw and heard while E3 was on I think I have to say Bioshock Infinite sounded like the best game to me too.

It looks amazing, and I'm ready for BioShock to get out of the water and tread some new ground.
