this is surprising, but you know what, it's good that Jack Trenton gets to leave when PS came back on top, I'm gonna miss having a JT at all the E3 press conferences.

Ya, if there was ever an opportunity to trade up this is it. He just helped pull a fucking miracle move. His salary could quadruple if he plays his card rights

@vod_crack: He delivered the goods back at the Sony conference last year. The offline, the disc sharing, etc. He may not be the guy responsible for those decisions but he was the messenger and for that he gets the love.

Makes sense. There's always restructuring and change when a new generation starts.

For what it's worth he was a good face for Sony, at least at the end there (he's had some ups and downs with that but was in a good place to go out positive).

I always liked Jack, hope he has success elsewhere. To me he was one of Sony's biggest assets at E3 every year. He always came across as likable and trustworthy; like he really had the gamer's best interests at heart. Why they would ever want to give up that advantage is beyond me, unless he's the one who wanted out. If that's the case then more power to him.

Jack Tretton and Shuhei Yoshida are two people every executive should work to be like. Seeming like a human being is the most marketable thing you can do in this backwards ass world.

At least he went out on top. PS4 is doing well, his last E3 performance was positively crushing, and the public hasn't turned on him for screwing anything up (hell, we even dealt with the PSN outage).

He will be remembered fondly. I hope Jack and Sony both have good luck in the future. He definitely has a charisma, work ethic, and resume that will take him a lot of places going forward.

No one is more authentic than Jack Tretton. He was just to real for Sony. Guess he'll have to find a new place to roll up his sleeves and get down to business at.

Pretty much, I'm not even a console gamer, but I've always enjoyed his interviews. I enjoy Reggie as well, but Reggie seems to come off too cocky, which is understandable. Of all the console figure heads, save Miyamoto, Jack has always seemed upfront, not unfiltered, but never blind or over confident. Like he actually knows whats going on outside his office. Weird huh. lol

Probably heard what happened to Amy Hennig and went, "Fuck that!"

He had his superstar moment at E3 and know he can ride off into the sunset, or a bigger paycheck, whatever comes first.

Explains why Shaun has been the face of the PS4 since the reveal. Must have been in the works for some time.

Isn't sony going through major changes anyway? I dont' keep up on these things, but i do remember the majority share holder or something basically deciding to split the company in two, between the games, electronics and movie devisions. Probably had a lot to do with it if he didn't feel that was the direction it should go in.

I don't even like Sony, but this guy had character.

Who ever takes his place... has big shoes to fill.

It's going to be an interesting E3... both Microsoft and Sony have lost two guys who had personality.

It's rare for someone to have success at an executive level and not be hated. Whether it was genuine or not, Jack Tretton always seemed like someone who was passionate and truthful about his company's product, and a down-to-earth dude to boot.

I feel like E3 is going to be a bit worse this year :( We'll see!

Wow, weird. He pulled the PS3 out of depths of despair that Hirai and Kutaragi created, lead a successful launch of the PS4, so this was the time he was gonna enjoy the fruits of his labors

In my mind's eye I see a coyly smiling Tretton, lowering his sunglasses to the tip of his nose, and softly saying, "See you on the flip side...", just before speeding off into the sunset in a red Lamborghini.
