LucasArts Unleashing Yoda In The Force Unleashed II

Insert backwards-sounding Yoda-speak here.

Proving that everyone in the Star Wars universe really does know everyone else, LucasArts brings word from the Celebration V festival currently taking place in Florida that everyone's favorite sagely frog-thing Yoda will be making an appearance alongside Young Starkiller in The Force Unleashed II.

Here's the official pitch.

Starkiller, having escaped the clutches of Darth Vader on the planet Kamino, senses something calling out to him from the planet Dagobah. Arriving there, he encounters a familiar face and one of the most powerful Jedi to ever live – Yoda. Outside of the iconic Cave of Evils, Yoda provides Starkiller with crucial insight about the inner turmoil tearing his mind apart and his quest to reunite with Juno Eclipse.

And here's some screenshots!

And here's the video evidence!

Whose ears are tingling over this news? I still need to finish the original Force Unleashed before this sequel comes along later in the year. Attempting to play through that game on hard just for the achievements was not a great idea.

I thought SW:TFU2 (phonetically - Ess Double-You-Tee-Effootwo?) was supposed to be bigger badder and more badass? Not smaller, greener, and more sage.

You see, the Star Wars expanded universe isn't much more than licensed Fan Fiction. Sometimes it's good, as in the case of the first Force Unleashed and like... Jedi Knight... or something. Other times it becomes so hilariously implausible and fan-servicey that you can't help but laugh. This is an example of the second.

Wow, way to be obnoxious man.

But back on topic, this game keeps getting better and better. I was a huge fan of the first one, it was just a little too short for my liking.

This is such a pathetic attempt to win over casual Star Wars fans.

Real Star Wars fans want a cameo of Yaddle.

thoughts from blog:

" I like this whole bridging-the-gap-between-the-prequels-and-originals idea.  I like how TFU did it.  There’s such unneeded, unnecessary, and mostly unfounded vitriol for the prequels that people are so obsessed with “JAR JAR SUCKS HE IS A GAY AND HE SUCKS” that they can’t look past it and whatever other bad there may be (which I admit), and appreciate the good in the films.  There’s a lot of good.  Were the prequels as perfect as pure films as the originals?  No.  They have issues all of their own, but just because hearing a character be called “Ani” sparks your ultra-masculinity bone and you flip out in a rage scared that your balls will shrink doesn’t make the planets, creatures, concepts, character designs, battles, fights, or emotions any less valid.  I feel like those at the forefront of Star Wars lore (most likely not George Lucas by this point) really care about fixing the problems with the prequels without leaving them in the dust.  By cutting the fat, it’s possible that a day will come when the mere thought of Kamino or a Toydarian doesn’t trigger a negative Pavlovian response."

Before it becomes an issue/question, I'd just like to point out that while the Plinkett reviews are really funny, they are also insanely opinionated which is made way worse when they claim not to be, they get a good chunk of the material of the movie they are reviewing wrong, and in some cases even purposefully lead the viewer astray.  The guy set his mind into "hate this movie hate this movie hate this movie no matter what" mode, so when it came time to throw a 90-minute review together, he had to lie to the audience to further prove his point.  Granted, most people haven't seen the films since their original release and will gladly swallow whatever he says due to somewhat similar feelings.   There's nothing wrong with carefully dissecting a movie and pointing out its flaws, but it breaches into offensive territory when your plot details are incorrect, then the incorrect plot details of your mind are used as means to justify your anger.

Your going to call me crazy but fuck Jedi.  Outside of the awesome Jedi Knight series for the PC I have not had too much fun playing as one.  Let me play a Star Wars game with a character I actually care about like Han Solo and Chewbacca.

The screenshots actually look exactly like Empire Strikes Back. Like, exactly.

That being said, I did not care for Force Unleashed much at all. Maybe the sequel will be better.

I am super-excited that Yoda is going to be in this game, as well as Boba Fett.

I can't wait for the game to come out this fall.

I need to go lie done. Why can't Lucas leave Empire alone and come up with some original stuff. Why couldn't Starkiller have found another hidden Jedi to help him. General Kotta could still be alive.

Theres paying homage and theres ripping off, I'll leave the decision as to where this falls to you.

The Force Unleashed is canon with the Star Wars universe. Doing that wouldn't make any sense.

I don't know. I don't think Revenge of the Sith is THAT bad. But yeah, certainly 100 times better than the first two.

@Brad: There's an EVEN HARDER difficulty level that unlocks when you beat Sith Lord.

And then you have to play the whole game over again to get that achievement.

This seems like it could be pretty interesting, but themangalist does have a point. Yoda is flipping his sentences way too much.

Seems pretty well done to me.  If they could keep this quality up in storytelling throughout that'd be pretty appealing to me.

Did starkiller get a new hairdoo?

This yoda actually looks pretty good. At least on par with revenge of the sith.

Let's just hope you don't actually fight yoda... that would make a few fanboys angry would it not?

Would be nice if there is a mission in which you are yoda and wrecking shit =P

ugghhh i always felt like they're overdoing the backward speaking part of yoda. He (?) never spoke like that as much in the original trilogy. Now he just sounds awkward.
