Nintendo Announces Pushmo Sequel, Nothing Else Matters

Okay, okay, so they announced a bunch of other 3DS games, too. I guess.

PUSHMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PUSHMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the list of reasons to own a 3DS and load up the ol’ eShop, Pushmo is high on the list. I’ve been hoping Nintendo would get around to making another one, and it’s happening with Crashmo.

The announcement of Crashmo comes alongside a series of other 3DS news this morning from Nintendo, which includes a lineup of new games for the eShop, previously released retail Nintendo games become available digitally, what’s coming through Virtual Console in the near future, and a list of upcoming game demos.

Super Mario 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D and Mario Kart 7 can already be purchased in box form, but on October 18, each of them will be available as a $39.99 download on the eShop. Nintendo’s promising more of this, as well.

Here are your eShop heavy hitters, with descriptions courtesy of Nintendo:

  • NightSky launches Oct. 25. NightSky is an action-puzzle game that offers an ambient game-play experience with cerebral challenges that fill uniquely designed, picturesque worlds. Each of these worlds is broken into different areas in which the player must maneuver a sphere by using realistic physics to advance.
  • Crashmo launches Nov. 22. Players can embrace the laws of gravity and challenge themselves with a whole new kind of action-puzzle play in this exciting sequel to the critically acclaimed Pushmo. New gravity mechanics and gadgets like floating blocks, doors and move switches await, testing players’ skills as they push, pull and slide each puzzle’s colorful blocks in order to climb to the top. Just be careful where those blocks are moved—unsupported blocks will come crashing down. Crashmo contains lots of puzzles to test your brains, and enhanced puzzle-creation and -sharing features mean that even when all the puzzles are cleared, the fun never has to stop.
  • Fluidity: Spin Cycle arrives on Dec. 27, letting players tilt, turn and even rotate their Nintendo 3DS system 360 degrees to maneuver a puddle of water named Eddy through a maze-like, magical world. Change from liquid to a block of ice or a steam cloud to solve fun, gravity-defying puzzles and defeat Goop monsters. Fluidity: Spin Cycle features a new storybook setting to explore that spans the ages, from a lost world full of dinosaurs to the modern world and beyond.
  • Three original games from Level-5 and several well-known Japanese collaborators will launch in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS before this holiday season. The first of these games, Suda 51’s Liberation Maiden, is set 100 years in the future, when the president of Japan boards her Liberator, Kamui, and fights to free her country one region at a time. Aero Porter by Yoot Saito and Yasumi Matsuno’s Crimson Shroud are also slated for release by the end of the year.
  • Get ready to unleash pedestrian-tossing pandemonium with Grace and Savannah in Tokyo Crash Mobs, a fast-paced action-puzzle game coming to the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS in early 2013. Players will need lightning-fast reflexes and an eye for strategy to survive the three chaotic weeks that lie ahead for our heroines, as they take on anyone and anything that gets in their way.

And here’s your Virtual Console lineup:

And here’s some upcoming game demos:

I sort of got bored of Pushmo, much as I wanted to keep liking it. Perhaps it's the part where you have to plan ahead - that's the one thing that always trips me up in games. Same reason I hate sliding puzzles.

Anyway, NightSky is a fun, nice-looking game and I would certainly recommend it for $5 (if that's what they're charging)

Does real Nintendo download game copy mean that the Number #1 All Time Video Game Podcast will make a triumphant return?

Yeah, I'm interested to try the demo. I have sort of an arms-length appreciation for how surreal Adventure Time is, but I don't really want to watch the show, so it would be nice if I could get that experience in video game form.

Whenever Ryan leaves the room, Jeff nods to Patrick, exchanging no words, only a knowing glance. Patrick checks casually and cautiously over his shoulder and mutters "can't stop the train motherfucker" under his breath.

I can see this vividly.

if the e-shop could expand in the way Playstation Store expanded (especially if it gets downloadable original DS titles *cough*METEOS*cough*) it would be a wonderful thing indeed

Great news. Loved the first game..beat the entire campaign and most of the bonus puzzles (these get really fucking hard).

On topic of eshop...they REALLY need to rework the presentation of that. It so annoying to figure out how to get at certain games and demos...

Always good to see Level 5 games coming over to the US. Guild 01 was pretty popular in Japan I believe so getting all three games here is nice.

Pushmo's alright. Does it get better as you continue to play it? I'm just in the second batch of puzzles after the tutorials.

lol, sorry, but I just have to laugh at that!.

What's Nintendo Australia's excuse for such shambolic delays?... I'm guessing it's some shitty rating procedure.

Yeeeeah, more Pushmo! Sweet!

You guys shouldn't ignore Fluidity: Spin Cycle, though; I'm sure almost no one played it, but the original Fluidity on WiiWare was actually really awesome. Used the Wiimote excellently, and was a well-designed Metroidvania/puzzle game. It's great that they are making another on a platform where it might get more attention.

They quick look'd and liked that other fluid-based physics/platformer that was out on PSN a while ago. They sure as hell would love Fluidity but since that suffered the WiiWare curse, nobody knew it existed. :(

That said, I'm hyped for Spin Cycle!

I don't like it either, the titles to some of those section are way too vague, I'm often left wondering what section to look in. It's all done on purpose, Nintendo want you to do some browsing so you come across new content that may interest you. It's sly, but it works.

Isn't there a demo section on the US store?. You can type in any game and find it instantly, that search function works fine enough, which is why I use it straight away now.

Me having to read those E-shop descriptions is barbaric and should be a service provided on this site. There should be some kind of segment in the podcast here where someone can read those descriptions to me. It is 2012, how is it that this site still puts up text for this and doesn't have someone just read them to us???? Fuck, this site can be frustrating sometimes.

Hear hear! I don't understand how I'm supposed to keep track of all of these releases. I don't mean to sound like I'm railing on the site but I wish there were someone who could conduct the new E-Shop games into a neat format so my train'd ears could listen to them.

I feel better having expressed myself there.

Making you rebuy NES games you have on wii VC to use on 3DS VC is kinda bullshitty. What if 3DS gets NES/SNES/N64 games that never made it to the wii VC? Like Mortal Kombat 2, Goldeneye

Where the FUCK is Fantasy Life by Level-5? And why would you buy a Nintendo game on VC on the 3DS...they're just gonna end up making a 3D Classics version down the road. Anyway the Suda game, Adventure Time, and Epic Mickey sound good/like something I will pick up.
