Panic Panic!

All Mac software should come on solid-state cartridges.

If I didn't already work at the best video game website in the world, I'd probably be pretty jealous of the folks at Panic Inc. In addition to being responsible for some of the sweetest Mac software around, and inexplicably being the official source for all Katamari and Noby Noby Boy t-shirts, they're not afraid to produce some truly amazing Atari 2600-style box art for their software, along with a surprisingly thorough, but entirely fabricated, back story. As they sum up simply, "The concept: what if Panic was around in 1982, and our apps were early Atari 2600 games?" The results are thoroughly sublime.

Anyone with an appreciation for the surreal watercolor style of classic 2600 boxes will get a kick out of this, though folks who use Candybar, Transmit, Coda, and/or Unison should especially enjoy all the weird sight gags tucked into each piece. Regardless, Giant Bomb fully endorses this venture, and encourages you to pick up a set of art boxes or posters of these amazing designs for yourself or a loved one.
