Panic Panic!

If I didn't already work at the best video game website in the world, I'd probably be pretty jealous of the folks at Panic Inc. In addition to being responsible for some of the sweetest Mac software around, and inexplicably being the official source for all Katamari and Noby Noby Boy t-shirts, they're not afraid to produce some truly amazing Atari 2600-style box art for their software, along with a surprisingly thorough, but entirely fabricated, back story. As they sum up simply, "The concept: what if Panic was around in 1982, and our apps were early Atari 2600 games?" The results are thoroughly sublime.

I don't even know what to expect.

I need some more clothes actually...

I dunno, I think the Giant Bomb crew would look awesome in one of those.

I saw them earlier in the week when they were being passed around the Mac blogosphere, but they're still Just. Motherfucking. Awesome.

I didn't have a 2600 (slightly too young), but I do remember this art style, and it totally tickles my nostalgia center. Well done, Panic.

I've never wanted a large, sweaty chef in my room more than I do now.

I like that they know their audience and recommend the appropriate Ikea frame for the posters. I really need the Katamari shirt with the fuzzy prince and katamari. Really.

That art is really, really sweet. Very imaginative, creative and eye-catching. Wow, there are other things that keep  the best video game website in the world in its position but this art is seriously amazing.

Ah man, my new wallpaper. Can't wait until an indie developer uses this style, a bigger studio sees it, and we see a lot of box art like this.

This is awesome! Giant Bomb should do something like this. If they did and it was for sale I would buy it in a second. My media room could use an awesome poster like this that is Giant Bomb related on its wall. *hint *hint

This is easily my favorite piece of 2600 art. I would pay an unreasonable amount of money for a nice, large, high-quality print of this. I'm not even a huge Defender fan, I just find this art spooky as all hell.
