Rage Release Pushed Back To October 4

I was not impressed with the gameplay video I seen and starting to have doubts if they can deliver the goods.

Wait, I thought Ghost Recon is coming out in early 2012?

Not too surprised as it looks like it will be worth it but after some earlier videos seen of it at one of the previous Quakecon events, I'm happy to just stay in the dark about this & grab it when it comes out. Plus one month delay isn't all that bad so looking forward to seeing it then.

Well, I'm sure this won't effect anything. Rage is head and shoulders better than anything I've seen as far as a FPS this year. Except maybe Battlefield 3, maybe...

It'll give me some more time to save up the pennies to buy. Hopefully they can also use the time effectively and give the game a good polish. 

More time to build my new PC for Rage, Old Republic, and Battlefield 3. No complaints here.

It's out a month before Skyrim so I might play it.

Yeah this is going to be a tough time of year... and forza is squeezed in the following week I believe.... I am going to need to use my vacation time just to finish games....

I'm going to be too busy playing Skyrim to even notice yet another solely action focused first-person shooter like Rage get released.

I felt the first video playthrough of a mission was tedious and boring, but the second was more interesting if sparse.

Wait, so they delay a game that combines car combat, first person shooting and RPG elements to release it simultaneously with a car combat game, a first person shooter and an RPG?

It's more of an issue with scheduling for pressing copies and making the game go gold than anything, I think. They still haven't finished coding it, I think, so moving it up would be too much of a crunch.

This ain't good. It was set perfectly at 9/13. I had time to finish it before Gears the next week, then I could easily move on to Dark Souls from there (potentially mixing in some Twisted Metal and Darkness II), and then Batman, and then Uncharted, and then close out the year with Skyrim. DAMMIT

I never understood why companies didn't push the release date up? Wouldn't it make more sense to be out before GoW3? Cause people might still be playing GoW3 MP the day Rage comes out.

October 4th is going to be stupid expensive. I don't know how I'm going to afford all those games.

I feel the opposite way. So many devs show off setpieces for demos, but the gameplay is often constrained in these sections to show off some fancy explosions or scripted sequences.

RAGE trailers have been all about pure gameplay, and it looks like the game plays well and has interesting weapons. That's all I need since I know I like the id style of game.

Wish this weren't so close to Gears 3.

With a job and a family and other hobbies and I don't have the spare time to sink my teeth in to multiple shooters, but RAGE is looking great - reminds me of how much I enjoyed Quake II.

I can see why they took it out of the original period, however putting it out on the same day as those other games? Don't think it will work.

All this article did was remind me how excited I am for Dark Souls.

A good scenario would be that they pushed it back to keep away from Gears of War 3 since the other games will not be nearly as strong selling as that game. It could of course need more time to iron out the kinks but it's too early to call that. Lets hope no more delays as I'm eager to play.

Oh my god... Twisted Metal, Dark Souls, The Darkness II, and now RAGE all on the same day. I smell another Shrink Wrap Tuesday.

Damn, can't wait for it.

I really want this but, I don't have so much money to blow on games. Now it comes out on the same day as Dark Souls and I'm way more interested in that.

At this point, if you've been anxiously waiting to sink your teeth into id Software's long-in-development apocalyptic shooter Rage, what's one more month of downtime in the grand scheme of things? Today, id Software adjusted Rage's release date on the game's official site, pushing the game to October 4 from its original September 13 launch.

What's the reasoning behind this final delay? id has not provided any rationalization for this last delay, though some are speculating that the push is designed to keep Rage away from the September launch of Gears of War 3. Rage was originally due out just a week before Gears (out September 20), though this delay sets id's new IP to release on the same day as The Darkness II and Dark Souls. Publisher Bethesda might have decided that Rage has a better chance of standing out against those titles rather than an established franchise like Gears. Of course, it's also entirely possible that the delay has more to do with last-minute technical fixes or certification submission.

Either way, a one month push is hardly the most significant delay this series has had. Just take the extra time to let your anger and frustration seethe! When your anger blooms into full-blown Rage, you'll be in the perfect mindset to play id's new game.
