Sony Premieres 'PSP Remasters' With Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version

If you're like me, you don't know where your PSP is. Every once and a while, there's a game that comes along, such as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, that makes me think about finding it.

Really, though, I'd rather play most of those games on my PS3 on a big ol' TV. Sony's finally making my dream come true with the "PSP Remaster" series, essentially HD'd versions of older PSP games. Sony's partnered with Capcom right out of the gate with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version.

News of these upgraded PSP games originated out of Japan, but the official press release (stating it's "starting in the Japanese market") definitely makes it sound like something we'll see rollout worldwide.

What's cool about the "PSP Remasters," however, is the ability to move between your PSP and PS3 without much trouble; the saves are compatible with one another. Plus, there's 3D support. Er, okay.

Look for more news on this at E3, obviously.

So it's like all those PSP-to-PS2 ports that negated why you'd ever have their portable system in the first place.

I just want metal gear and we're good.

I can only think of one(two) game i want to sit down on my couch and play.   Crisis Core and maybe Peace Walker.

I'd really like to try a Monster Hunter game, but 1. my Wii is in the living room and I barely venture that far from my bedroom 2. I only have a PC and 360 there and 3. I don't want to be a PSP/PS3 :(

If they can bring MGS: Peace Walker to the PS3 then I'll be happy since that game should have been made for console.

They were in denial about the PSP being a viable platform.Like they are with the NGP too.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep... please? That, Peace Walker, and God Eater are really the only PSP games I'm interested in. Maaaaybe Persona 3 Portable.

this is a good way to check out some games if you never owned a psp...  that's pretty cool.

Give me Patapon 3 on PS3. I will be exceedingly happy.

Call me crazy if you want, but I really enjoyed the Syphon Filter games on the PSP. Wouldn't mind seeing those two get the remastered treatment.

This makes sense now that the NGP is coming and exclusive titles will come to that invariable making it so these PSP titles are now not as viable.  I would totally love it if the hit titles from the PSP came to PSN for download.  Namely that Persona 2 remake can come to the PS3!  (Of course I'm just well wishing here).

Sounds good to me. I recall playing the first Monster Hunter game that came out here in Canada on the PSP back in college and rallying enjoying it, but not having the extra thumb stick to move the camera around really hurt the game. Plus the whole point of it was to play with friends, and since I only knew one other person who played it, and we were only in the same room during classes, it was impossible to play with people.

at least peace walker will end up where it should have been in the first place.

This may be the ticket for me to give this Monster Hunter thing a try.

People bitch and moan about "The PSP has no games! why did i buy one!" then an awesome game like Peace Walker or BBS comes out, and then those comments die off and change into "That should be a PS3 game!" well, too bad people, choose one, either bitch about it being a psp game or make the psp have no games. you can whine about both

Seeing as I'll never ever buy a PSP, this is great news.

This sounds great! I've been playing the Japanese version of MHP3rd for a while now, it'll be great to play it in HD, with my PS3 controller!

I love my PSP and I don't understand the complaint about them being better on a console but that being said, I will be there day 1 if Peace Walker gets this treatment. That is a fantastic game. Crisis Core too.
