I see it as $900 for both. Ballers got this. Ain't nothing to a boss.

Arguing over consoles is for the poor. Used games? My momma taught me never to take anyone elses trash. Real gamers go with PC, PS4 and Xbox 1 this holiday season.

Here is my question. Did Sony just piss off most if not all the major publishers with this announcement? (used games, no online authentication) The gamble Sony is taking is that the PS4 will have a larger install base then the XOne. Showing publishers that even though Sony just (maybe) defied there wises, the audience is all only the PS side and if they want to make games for the best selling system they best be making them for PS4. Or do the publishers fire back? COD ghost's 59.99 on Xbox One and 69.99 on PS4?

I'll probably still end up with both, but this made a pretty solid case for first pick.

I am stoked, but cautious on the PS4. I'll let the journalists sort out all the niggling details over the next few days and see what's really up. It's never good to take everything said at a press event at face value. Having said that, though Sony definitely put on the better show and of the 3 conferences I saw (MS, Ubi & Sony), they had the best presentation. I feel good about gaming's future this evening. Well done, Sony.

Sony is the clear front-runner already. They've got a handle on US pricing, consumer control of property and a clear focus on providing games, not TV functionality. I don't really see how Microsoft could have watched that conference and not immediately ordered some kind of pricing/policy change. Amazing.

@crazykill3r93: Finally someone who puts it that succinctly. That should pretty much be the only argument against the ridiculous commonts about pricing differences - even from a lot of the journos out there that maybe should be better informed. Thanks.

Sony owned Microsoft with its press conference. Microsoft will have to ditch the DRM and poor used game policies and the price of they'll lose before the console wars begin. Either way, it's great news for the consumer. Like I said weeks ago: Want the full next-gen experience? Build a custom gaming PC and by a PS4. Xbox-One was done before it was released.

Worst recession on record in many European regions. I'd say they need to price low, not high, if they care about making money (with every game sale being a cut for Sony, the install base is key and as we move to more content being sold digitally with a 30% Sony cut of each sticker price only more so).

Yeah they both did. But remember, European prices will be higher purely because of higher taxes and import charges (which is semi-fixed so the lower the base price, the most percent is added through these charges). They are also helped by how prices in Europe are higher anyway. It does suck still though (especially since it should, at most, increase it by 25%, not 50%).

The only thing I hate is some games like Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed are $99 for the PS4 standard editions. Unless it's a ps4 exclusive I will either get the Xbox One version or PC download.

I was about ready to give up on this entire generation of systems. I don't need to play games. I just still need to catch up and find out their position of always online. See if they'll cut you off for any reason from single player if you aren't online. Will their base online service still be free.

Either way, I'm now interested in PS 4, but no way in hell I'll get first gen of this new system. PS3 had too many problems at launch. Better to wait till they iron the wrinkles out.

Sony has pretty much adopted Microsoft's winning strategy for the PS4, which is basically sit back, let the other guys fuck up, and reap in the profits.

@gnomeonfire: Pretty much same, I mostly PC game but my PS3 saw enough action to justify it's cost, especially with media server functionality. All that I needed to know we heard tonight, Microsoft was never gonna have my money but Sony has got mine now.

Sony's Presser was so full of awesome games (Standouts for me were Kingdom Hearts 3 and Destiny, but some of the exclusives looked great too), they announced so many good corporate policies, their hardware looks better, their premium service is better, they're reasonably priced...I've done a 180 on the entire concept of modern gaming. I am totally back on board, and I am nailing my flag to Sony's PS4. I stuck my name on an Amazon preorder. Before the Presser, I didn't think I'd get a PS4 this side of Summer 2015.

I'm still interested in D4 (the Sweary game), Quantum Break, and I'm a big Forza fan, but fuck, none of those games, nor all of them collectively are worth what Microsoft is making of gamers, especially when there is another option in the PS4 that is not demanding those same crazy concessions from consumers. I'd hate to own MS stock right about now. I just wonder now if Microsoft looks worst by doing an immediate about face, or sticking to their guns. Quite a pickle for those guys.

Every retailer always put the prices at 99$ when they don't know yet what they will actually charge for. It's common practice. They won't be 99$.
