Street Fighter IV 3D Edition To Include Online Multiplayer

Well, I suppose this makes up for Street Fighter IV iOS' total lack thereof.

Online multiplayer will indeed be a feature in Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition for the Nintendo 3DS.

At its recent presentation given at Nintendo World attended by G4, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono confirmed that the forthcoming mobile edition of SSF4 would support at least two online modes: worldwide online play and channel live.

G4 explains that worldwide will be your standard versus offering, allowing you and at least one other player to hook up via the Internet and get your brawl on. Channel live, on the other hand, is simply a match viewer, presumably allowing you to watch recorded matches from around the world.

These modes will bolster the previously announced on-the-street features of the game that’ll take advantage of the 3DS’ ability to detect other 3DSes. The first of these modes is figure collection, which is an automatic mode where the game simulates a fight in which the victor takes his opponent’s figure. The other mode is a simple versus match option that lets you fight that dude with SF4 data.

FINALLY DONE! HALLELJUAH!

Also who would want to play in 3D with half the frames? No thanks, I'll play it in 2D. ^_^

Love the fact that in all of the video it was the girl "Street Fighter" that comes out of nowhere and kicks the guys' ass.

Wow, they've gone to the trouble of including 3DS replays?

Leaving the 3DS on in my pocket? With what the battery life is currently rumoured to be, not likely.

Man, that game looks incredible for a handheld game. Amazing how close it is to the console versions. I wonder if 3D halves the frames like Tecmo said it does in DOA: Dimensions.

It's the wifi connection that seems to be the thing that will always be on. You can turn the 3DS off, but it'll still have an active wifi connection making the street features a little more feasible.

I imagine the power drain is greatly reduced when it's in standby (no screen activity or button input, just wireless broadcast/reception).

Dang, this looks amazing, 3d or not. I'd prefer 2d, but the spectator mode and replays look legit. I wonder how that analog stick is going to feel though. 3DS portable fight stick anyone? Too much? haha

Can't wait till March. Some of those features would be super rad if I lived in Tokyo and rode the trains to work everyday.

As someone who grew up on stripped down portable versions of arcade/console fighters, this is suddenly sounding like an intriguing game.

I wouldn't have expected anything less, to be honest. I still kind of hope they do something about the whole Friend-code shenanigans, though I suppose Nintendo's stubborn enough to just leave it as is despite the many complaints and no one really "getting" the whole idea behind it...

If I actually had any sort of reason to own a portable version of Super Street Fighter IV, this looks like it would fit that bill quite nicely. But I don't.

I just don't know about this. If I'm going to be putting in a bunch of SFIV time, I'd want to get better with the actual game playing with a stick. On a portable system, even with online options it just seems.. pointless? Looks nice though.
