You're Getting Even More Borderlands 2 DLC Next Week

If you've been itching for some Borderlands 2 downloadable content that doesn't involve starting over with an entirely new character class, Gearbox has some good news for you. As of next week, you'll be able to get your hands on the first story content DLC for Borderlands 2, in the form of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty. Yes, that's a double entendre.

The Captain Scarlett DLC takes place in the sun scorched sandscape of Oasis, an area infested with bandits and pirates, including the titular (stop giggling you infantile creep) Captain Scarlett.

The DLC will go for $9.99, except for those who have already purchased the $29.99 DLC season pass. They'll obviously get it for free. It's expected to launch across all platforms on October 16.

I've actually had the chance to play some of Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, but hilariously, I am embargoed from saying anything about it until next week. So I can't tell you if it's a totally decent addition to the game or not, because that would just be wrong. Look for more thoughts on it when said embargo lifts.

I got to level 14 and got bored.... But I think news of DLC makes me want to try playing some more.

They should make it so you have more active skills to use at once, then maybe the game would be interesting for more than an hour.

I've played about 25 hours and haven't beaten it yet, so I imagine I'll wait a little before picking this up.

I wonder how many Return of the Jedi references there will be.

I think I'll wait and see how the DLC looks when it's all out and grab a bundle.

Finished the game once with Maya and none of the other classes feel right to me yet.

So I can't tell you if it's a totally decent addition to the game or not, because that would just be wrong.

While I'm normally wary of quick DLC, there was so much content in BL2 that I don't mind having this piece so quickly.

The fact that this is coming so quickly and there are so few achievements tied to it, seems a little worrying. I'm hoping this is on a similar scale to Robot Revolution and General Knoxx, but it seems like that might not be the case.

As far as the DLC goes. It's a bit too early for me personally after already playing 100+ hours of the main game.

I hope this is great, and I hope it sucks. I love Borderlands 2 but my bank account is drying up with all the games coming out.

This almost feels too quick in a way. I wonder where this will fit within the games story. I got to level 30 with Zer0 but never finished the main story on my first playthrough and now I've started again with Gaige. The DLC for the first game was very consistent apart from Moxxi's. I hope they continue to raise the level cap just so we can put more points into skills. The Mecromancer class has a bunch of stuff I want to put points into but with Zer0 I only really wanted to put points into sniping and some into the assassin stuff whilst completely ignoring the middle.

Ah, it's free for people that paid $30. Anyway, I think I'm pretty much done with Borderlands 2 D: Definitely didn't do it for me like Borderlands 1 did.

This is how you turn around DLC. Give it to people while they are still playing the game. I've skipped on DLC for so many games not out of hate for DLC or anything but mostly because I just lose interest in the game by the time the DLC hits. Giving a steady stream of content while the game is still hot is the way to do it.

Borderlands 1 DLC was hit or miss, hope they figured out how to make all the DLC solid for the sequel.

That was suspiciously fast...

Got the Season Pass for $18 and some change through some credit and a 25% off coupon on GreenManGaming, so I'm in either way. Hope this is good stuff.

At some point you have to wonder why they didn't just aim for a release six weeks later and charge $90 for the finished product. I would genuinely prefer to pay more and have the whole thing on release day.

Getting the dlc out ASAP didn't stop you from trading it in, so championing their strategy seems odd.

I paid $20 for the DLC season pass when it went on sale, so it would only be $80 for me! ;) But to be honest I actually don't like when DLC is released so soon to launch, because it makes me feel like I need to rush through the game to play it. Although it depends what kind of DLC it is. If it's like Mass Effect where the DLC adds to the main story, and can be completed during the main playthrough, I HATE it when it comes out after, because I feel like there's no point to go back and play it.

I think I will play this and play as the new gal.

I wonder what the level cap will be raised to or if they give you more inventory slots.

RE 6 Plus Dishonored- I forgot about borderlands at this point- Maybe Spring time?

I wish they'd concentrate on getting a patch out for the badass rank glitch first. I got it towards the end of my first play through and I'm not touching the game again until its fixed. The longer it takes the more I'll be tempted to trade it in towards one of the new Fall releases. I know Gearbox isn't necessarily doing the DLC but releasing it a month after the initial release without first addressing bug issues gives the impression that they don't give a shit.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one that thought of that.

Well Zombie Island game out relatively quickly and that was a pretty competent piece of DLC.

I played every single piece of DLC for the first game, but I'm only 22 levels into the second and I think I'm done with Borderlands 2.

I'm pretty sure this just means there's no right or wrong way to release this sort of DLC. I don't really mind when it comes out, because I'm not buying it until it goes on sale or gets a collected edition, because it always happens. Always.

I'm like 2/3rds way through my 2nd playthrough of B2 and I gotta wonder if this dlc will scale with my level or be specifically designed as post 50 content. Hope they don't fuck it up in that regard, sure was boring playing General Knoxx like 10 levels higher than I was suppose to be and their not being anything I could do about it.
