Basic Math is pretty much what you'd expect: it's a bare bones game where you solve math problems.  Like many Atari VCS games, players can choose between several modes that adjust the gameplay, in this case the different modes have you doing different calculations. Along with Math Gran-Prix this was an attempt by Atari to show that video games could be educational as well as fun.

Nine launch games in total for the Atari 2600 near the end of the disco age.
