Usually, eyepatches indicate that the wearer has a severe eye disease or has suffered a serious eye injury. Often the implication is that the wearer is habitually involved in dangerous situations. Eyepatches are frequently associated with pirates.
A hairband helps keep one's hair out of the eyes and face. Hairbands differ from headbands in that they are typically rigid and are worn over the top of the head, while headbands are soft and worn across the forehead. Hairbands are primarily worn by women.
