It looked pretty, but wasn't too interesting. I can appreciate some varied pacing, but it was a stage demo. That intro of driving along with nothing happening was far too long.
Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 is DICE's third numerical installment in the Battlefield franchise. It features a single player and co-operative campaign, as well as an extensive multiplayer component.
Battlefield 3 looked boring
@wolf_blitzer85: I kinda think the 'boring' is somewhat the point to battlefield. It's more cerebral than twitchy- and remaining true to this maxim kinda ends up with long segments in tanks and such. Then again I'm excited for the multiplayer segments because in my experience the multiplayer is more of a set of swings between cerebral and twitch depending on the class you're playing, the flow of the map, the game type, and player makeup. I've had BC2 games where my squad has held a single point for the whole game resulting in a more 'boring' experience on the surface, but totally satisfying that we were able to hold out own. I've also had games where all I did was run from house to house killin' dudes. that was fun too.

It's boring because there isn't a bunch of explosions to supply my ADHD. God forsake game developers try to be a bit realistic with their presentation of war scenarios.
This. Pinworm, please.
Are tank battles EVER exciting? This was the best tank battle I ever saw, and by far the most realistic one outside of a simulator what with all the movement and the sounds and the puddin pops awwwwww
@ElBarto said:I'm criticizing you because you don't understand what "a bit" means. The fact that you keep trying to claim that we are describing the same thing after I've already told you what I meant in regards to my original post is a little cockamamie. On top of the fact that you keep trying to apply my post to your post when mine came first.@Pinworm45 said:"What I put" in this instance was a description of the Battlefield demo, which you described as "trying to be a bit realistic". And you criticized my ability to read?@ElBarto said:Your description came after my statement. So I didn't describe what you wrote, when you quoted me,@Pinworm45 said:You still described what I put as "trying to be a bit realistic". I don't see how anything changes. Also Hyperbole. Missing the point. I hope it wasn't one of yours either.@ElBarto said:I hope reading wasn't one of your better subjects in school. It's boring because there isn't a bunch of explosions to supply my ADHD. God forsake game developers try to be a bit realistic with their presentation of war scenarios.Going from gunner to driver and shooter and then to a video overlay that calls in airstrikes, as the same person, fluidly: Realistic presentation of war scenarios.
What don't you get about that?
It was an interesting choice for the demo, but Vehicles is what Battlefield does well.
I would have liked to see a live-demo of the multiplayer, kind of like what they did for Medal of Honor.
tune in to watch the multiplayer demo played on the showfloor for FOUR HOURSI agree that the gameplay doesn't match up to the graphics.
the show starts in 50 minutes - http://www.ustream.tv/battlefield3
@AnimalFather: yeah I was a bit let down by what I saw. MW3 demoed much better I think. Battlefield 3 will still be a good game. The 10 min trailer first released was great.
I can't believe that they didn't show live footage of the multiplayer. But instead they gave us a linear and fairly boring tank mission, ah well at least it looked pretty.
Agreed. The game looks like GOTY material, but i did want some MP footage.
Big Battlefield fan here and I say....yeah, tank battles are shite. But as stated above by Skyline7284.....'If you go to battlefield for the singleplayer you're doing it wrong....'
Tank demo was kind of boring, save for a few spots. It went on for far too long. They should've showed off something else.
We had already seen some inf combat stuff and the tech demo showed off some of the action. The tank level might have been a little slow but it showed how big they could make the enviroments and was so damn pretty. I had a smile from ear to ear for about an hour after watching that. Really cool to see a company putting the PC first for a change.
@skyline7284 said:untrue. bf3's singleplayer looks like a less retarded mw3. this interests me just as much as the mp does.If you go to battlefield for the singleplayer you're doing it wrong....This is true.
The tank demo looked nice, but was the worst way to show off the game. Honestly, EA and Activision need to stop trying to think their military shooters have an important single player experience.
I dont get the people saying " If you go to battlefield for the singleplayer you're doing it wrong...." surely if your going to be paying full price for a game you would want both components being worth your money, just using the excuse of Battlefield being primarily being a multiplayer experience is lazy in this day and age.
I was pretty happy with it. I was just glad they didn't feel the need to explode everything and go into slow motion and add some high speed chasing and spinning and shit... I'm so fed up with the constant mind numbing craziness of the Call of Duty series. It's still just another modern FPS but I appreciate the change of pace their demo offered.
As if we're going to have time to wobble around in a tank during multi-player. Anti-Tank stationary weapons already have a lock on your rusty oily ass. Infantry LAWs and RPGs will be flying in from every direction like curse words rocketed by the wind. Combat choppers will be homing in like LOL-copters during one of their many (many) mating seasons. Jets on overflight will see your vehicle lighting up like a TOILET VACANT sign in a commercial airliner. Two or three hits of the sweet stuff and you're past tense in some German's to-do list. Oh and don't forget that anything on the road that looks like rocks is actually a cluster-fuck of AT mines just sitting there, waiting for your ignorant metal to flash above its triggers. Like parking do you? I've got four bundles of C4 that likes your parking, too. Tanking in Battlefield. Do you taste bacon and tears of children?
That demo was boring as shit, but I don't think that stuff is really the point of Battlefield 3. Everyone I know who is excited about BF 3 feels that way because of the multiplayer. The single-player is just more of the same scripted, pseudo-realistic gameplay that a lot of military shooters have these days.
Still too early to make a call, once the multiplayer is made more known, then we'll know whether it's boring or not. Singleplayer? I probably won't play it much. I enjoyed Bad Company 1 + 2, though I never finished 2's singleplayer. But only for the personalities, this BF3 singleplayer obviously won't be a screwball-shooter-comedy thing like Bad Company, so... it doesn't seem like it's for me.
But man that multiplayer... lookin' pretty cool so far.
I played all kind of damn shooting games. but for environment, graphic quality, BF3 is the best ever I've seen so far. I think that it is evolved from medal of honor unique, dynamic environment. when you compare with bad company 2, medal of honor looks different. it's more likely BF 3 (very closed). BF 3 combat is very dynamic. there is no FPS to go 15 hours for single player in the history (especially, military shooter). BF 3 will do very well no matter what.
