I am zero percent surprised by any of that.

#3 Posted by McBonJon (162 posts) -

Not surprising at all. I am still curious to see how this will run,

#4 Posted by Rebirth1337 (795 posts) -
Now all I want to know is Skyrim's requirements.
#5 Posted by Codeacious (960 posts) -

Well, now I know I have to upgrade my PC.

#6 Posted by Droop (1916 posts) -

@Rebirth1337: Skyrim on PC is Direct 9 I believe. So I wouldn't expect anything crazy.

#7 Posted by A_Dog (738 posts) -

I have exactly the recommended specs.

#8 Posted by Jack268 (3387 posts) -

A 460 is considered on par with a 6850? Or are these just suggestions of different DX11 cards?

#9 Posted by avantegardener (1155 posts) -

I appear to be in the recommended range even with my 460.

#10 Posted by MayorFeedback (674 posts) -

Heck yeah, man, CANNOT WAIT.

#11 Posted by nintendoeats (5975 posts) -

I'm glad to see that my Q6600 is aging well. That was a sound investment right there.

#12 Posted by mfpantst (2574 posts) -

phew- my new pc can totally do this.

#13 Posted by ervonymous (1297 posts) -

In the clear, here's hoping SLI and crossfire setups get some love.

#14 Posted by Jasta (2217 posts) -

So...who is getting the 360 version in light of this news?

That would be a crime sir.
#16 Posted by Wuddel (2100 posts) -

Well. I am pretty much at the recommended spec - slightly above, got a GTX 470 and 6GB of RAM. I wonder to what quality at Full HD I get.

#17 Posted by FritzDude (2273 posts) -

Looks like the day of DX9 support is over. Good for me that i'm getting a new card with DX11 soon.

#18 Posted by Quipido (659 posts) -

Man I am in range for recommanded, untill now I played only Bad Company 2 on my X360, but i think it's time to see my PC at it's best!

#19 Posted by jking47 (1248 posts) -

yay, I am in the minimum specs, will be able to play at least. still want to upgrade and see it in all its glory

#20 Posted by kingzetta (4307 posts) -

Guess what you put it in your console and it just works BOOM!!

Jacking the bank in order to pay for the PC to run it would be considerably worse.

#22 Posted by ZackBoy (15 posts) -

So if you want 60 fps on max you'll have to double those recommended requirements?

#23 Posted by Jeffsekai (7054 posts) -

I NEED A BETTER PROCESSOR GOD DAMMIT

#24 Posted by KillyDarko (1888 posts) -

I already suspected this, but now I'm really sad my graphics card went kaput a few weeks back and I had to revert back to my ATI 4850... :(
But hopefully I'll be able to buy a new one until the end of the year.

#25 Posted by AhmadMetallic (18954 posts) -

my future rig (Ivy Bridge & GTX 580) will max this out just fine

then a SLI 580 in 4 years, booming !

#26 Posted by Killroycantkill (1424 posts) -

Well, it looks like I'm getting this one on the console.

#27 Posted by AhmadMetallic (18954 posts) -

That source is fake, moderators told me on the BF3 EAUK forums

You want me to link you to an EA moderator post telling me not to trust that source? ... why would i make such a thing up?
#30 Posted by zudthespud (3284 posts) -

The recommended specs are spot on for my machine, even the graphics card is spot on. I guess that means I can run it at medium or something?

#31 Posted by Azteck (7449 posts) -

I top all of that shit.

Of course it's fake. It's a multiplatform game (even though PC is lead platform) which still has to support the consoles, so there's no fucking way it'll require DX10 hardware (but it will likely support DX10 and DX11 GPUs - they've already talked about tessellation).

One of the very first things DICE stated was that the game has no DX9 support (hence dropping winXP) ...   So no, those specs are fake not because they're too high, but because they're too low

DICE surely are gonna create a DX9 version on consoles and a DX10 min/DX11 rec  for PC
#34 Edited by RIDEBIRD (1233 posts) -

I'm totally surprised. Can't believe they're so damn low, they really optimized the hell out of it. Ah, saw what @Ahmad_Metallic posted just now. That explains it. I reckon a 580 will be required for ultra and such.

@kingzetta: I don't have to put anything in my computer. I just click download on Steam and BOOM!! it's down in 30 minutes.

#35 Posted by Monte (229 posts) -

Nice, I'm really glad I built my PC.

#36 Posted by jetsetwillie (857 posts) -

i have a i5 2500k with a GTX580 so im golden.

Me.

So I can play with friends and relax, instead of tinkering with different settings to find the perfect balance between performance and graphics.

That is very true, but then I would be stuck with a gimped version of the actual game. Of course if that's all you got, then that's all you got and roll with it. I guess we can all find out how well it runs when they do the open beta in September, so hopefully I'll have upgraded by then.

Yeah, good point. I forgot all about that announcement. Meanwhile, I just watched this:-

No way those minimum requirements make sense.

Just fucking link it or don't bother posting.

#41 Posted by AlexW00d (6446 posts) -

How did they do a console version if it is DX10/11.

Regardless, this pleases me to no end. Even if I won't be able to run it fully.

Woah, a bit rude and loud there Jeff, no?

I won't link it, i'll post it with my words and people will believe me, deal with it.
#43 Posted by mfpantst (2574 posts) -
@AlexW00d: all the footage we've seen is Pc footage- I'd guess they did up a special dx9 version of frostbite 2 for the consoles.  Maybe thicker dust to hide poor destruction animation?

Well I just had a mod on the EA BF3-US forums tell me they are legit, deal with it.

Don't call out a link if you aren't going to post any proof.

#45 Posted by Bocam (3827 posts) -

@Jeffsekai: I need a source on that.

What's with the 5 GB difference between the physical and digital versions.

#46 Posted by Seppli (10250 posts) -

Apparently the PS3 version is on the showfloor according to some outlets. I'm really curious to see how it performs on consoles. Glad I'm exceeding recommended speccs though, so either way, I'm golden.

#47 Posted by AhmadMetallic (18954 posts) -
@Jeffsekai:  No i'm perfectly fine with calling out a link without posting proof because i don't make shit up or fuck around when it comes to BF3. When i say an EA moderator told me not to trust the source, it means exactly that.

Feel free to doubt me and my posts, most people checking out the BF3 forums take my word on this shit, so deal with it, once again.

Sorry bro, im too much of a fuckhead to take 2 seconds to post my conversation with the mod! You will just have to take my word for it! :D

But at the cost of 60x less framerate and 1dpi BANG!!

(I don't actually believe that)
