So I bought BF:BC2 on Steam yesterday as it was on sale, and I'd been waiting for such sale for a while.

Anyway, when I bring up the server list it claims there are no servers. I can log in fine, which is what most Google results claimed the issue was. I can view leaderboards too.
It is allowed through my Firewall. The game, and Punkbuster, are both updated.

I'm running through a wireless card to my BT homehub, no idea if that is the cause?

    I'm also running W7 Ultimate 64bit.

Anybody have any fixes for this? I wanna play me some multiplayer darn it.
    Thanks.

I don't know about the PC servers, but the 360 servers were very sporadic for a while a couple months back.  I remember I had to do something to get it working again properly.  Did you download the Vietnam expansion?  I think I had to delete that from my HDD and reinstall it.  Maybe just try reinstalling the game overall.  Sorry I can't be of more help.

I had this exact same problem... I can't really remember what I did to fix it...

Maybe run the game/Steam as an admin?

Nah it's just Vanilla BC2. Reinstalling will be a last resort for me as I have terrible internet speeds :( lol.

I think I run Steam as an admin already, but I haven't run BC2 as admin yet, I'll try that now.

    I did that.

Also running as admin didn't change anything, although I didn't expect it to.

    Sigh.

    Alright, try opening these ports:

    Port: 80 TCP
    Port: 18121 TCP
    Port: 18126 TCP
    Port: 18126 UDP
    Port: 13505 TCP

And also doing what Infininja suggested.

It doesn't. Steam is set to update it though. Not sure whether that makes a difference.

Ah, that's what I did to fix it. I ran that program as admin. Try finding that .exe in your steamapps folder.

EDIT: If you can't find that, try verifying the game's cache on Steam.

Ok I think this worked. It populated the server list finally. But only after I changed it to Europe only.

Thank you sir, and thank you everyone else who answered. :D

Be sure to update PunkBuster or you get booted out of games left and right. It kinda sucks.

@AlexW00d: Press 'Search' on the server page. It should be on the right side.

    @AlexW00d:
It seems that the join multiplayer game (unlike playing this on the 360) is that it send you to a map server off somewhere in Germany with zero people in it. Try to search for servers to weed through the useless servers not working. GLHB

Are you pressing the search button, the list will be blank until you actually search.   Otherwise i'm stumped because i was playing yesterday with no problems.

Of course I pressed fucking Search. Although it is still being a mardy bastard and now claims it can't connect to the main EA server or whatever. WILL PERSIST.

It populated the list and I got a few rounds in last night before bed.

@Seppli: Do you know if avast is one of them?

I read a thread about that on either BFBC2 forums or the steam BC2 forum, but it only listed Kaspersky and another one that wasn't Avast.

I'm using the latest version of Kaspersky and have no problems, hence I didn't check the list. Forums are down, so I can't link the FAQ thread. I think it's a sticky there. Those dudes can definitely point you in the right direction. Just make a thread or search the forum. It's in there somewhere in great detail.
