    It's great!

Bionic Commando ReArmed 1&2 are THE best modern-day side-scrollers.
If you like Contra, or Gunstar Heroes, or Metal Slug-- basically if you like hitting a giant robot in it's weak-point for massive damage: You should buy these games.

ReArmed 1 had a great enthusiastic 80s buddy cop-movie vibe to it. It was really silly, the swinging was really fluid n fun to get around with, and there were a few good reasons to go back n play it again and again.

ReArmed 2 still has a great dumbass sense of humour, but not QUITE as much. It's like 50% serioues marine dudes and 50% jokey craziness this time. That's mainly why it's 4 stars n not 5, cos that's something I really loved about the first one; how dumb it was.

The swinging is a little hard to get into, but it's actually better than the first one was. Mostly because they added jumping. By the end of ReArmed 1 you could kind of spot the pattern of what you COULD reach n what you couldn't, so it felt a bit template after a while. But with jumping, you don't have that problem- because now the cieling can be any distance away. It makes the whole thing a bit more interesting.
It's not a huge Super Mario jump, it's just  little tiny hop. but it mixes things up enough.

Lastly, this game has LOADS OF SHIT TO FIND AND UNLOCK. I completed the first level an it said like "you missed 3 secrets, you missed 2 upgrades, you missed the extra life, you missed 1 yoshichi". And that's like every level for about 20 levels. So there's a fat bagload of upgrades n powers n stuff to go back and pick up on your second run through.

Oh and the boss-fights are allright. They're good, but not mind-blowing. The music is pretty fucking badass though.

If you loved the first one; buy this. It doesn't kick the shit out of the first one, but it won't dissapoint you either. You should definately buy it.

Bionic Commando Rearmed was one of my favorite games on Xbox Live Arcade at the time. I had no nostalgia for the original Bionic Commando, and I was mostly apathetic towards sidescrolling games. Still, the mechanics, music and challenge of the game drew me in and I enjoyed it immensely. Most of this is retained in the sequel, but it struggles from being far less memorable. The game takes place a couple of years after the first Rearmed (and apparently...

The jumping kids love, the swinging moms approve of 0

The whine, click, and swoosh of the aging Rad Spencer's bionic arm still satisfies. He may have taken on a few wrinkles (and a mustache) since Bionic Commando Rearmed, but Rearmed 2's Spencer still knows how to make the dangerous act of swinging fun as well as effective. Should you find yourself using Spencer's arm to swing back and forth endlessly or jumping between two pivot points as smoothly as the game allows, know that you are not alone. With tighter remapped controls and a greater sense o...
