    This may be the stupidest borderlands question but i'll ask it anyways. 
     
    So when a gun says it's damage is 40 and it also says +30% damage in the description is the +30% on top of the original 40 or is that included in the 40? 
     
    also some guns show a flashing multiplier in the damage info like a x2 or x10. Is that a sometimes thing or all the time thing?  
     
    just started playing with some friends and we were wondering how it works

    The +30% is what makes it 40, when it has a multiplier it means you're shooting more than one bullet(it multiplies for the number of bullets)

    Yeah the percentage thing is pretty much the only thing that I haven't fully figured out.  Like the other guy said, the flashing multiplier represents how many projectiles the gun fires.  The simplest example is a shotgun:  Each pellet does the damage value.  hope that makes sense.
