Bret was a developer at LucasArts from 1988 to 1999 where he worked on some of the greatest adventure games of all time including the Monkey Island series and Grim Fandango (for which he was Lead Programmer and Co-Designer). He created the GrimE engine, which was the 3D successor to the SCUMM engine, using the Lua scripting language.
In 1999, he moved to Developer Support for Sony Computer Entertainment America where he's worked on games such as SOCOM 3, Death Jr., and Unreal Tournament III.
In 2012 he was credited with creating a SPUTM-style 3D LUA engine for ResidualVM, a GrimE emulator.
