Call of Duty: Black Ops is going to be free for the weekend on Steam. This is a pleasant surprise. I've never played a CoD game before, so it's nice being able to try out the multiplayer everyone loves so much.

BlackOps is overrated as fuck. Pretty much the exact same as MW2. It's cool Steam is doing the free weekend thing though.

my computer still has framerate problems with the game.   Very bad port optimization.     Witcher 2 and Crysis 1 & 2 run way better than this game on my Core2Quad 2.4ghz and gtx 480.

@DystopiaX: Well, you'll be able to play it when the weekend's done at least. :)  @ElBarto: You're out of your bloody mind.  Maches would end a minute or two after they started cuz some fucker got the tac nuke and instantly used it.  Black Ops also has a better single player campaign where things are at least somewhat sensible (if hokey) as far as the story goes.

well that sounded exciting until i read for the weekend. i'm not going to download it. my internet speed is slow so it will take a day to download it. i already have black ops for ps3. i do know it probably is going to be good on the PC.

I can agree that the killstreaks were a little to much in MW2 the majority of the core game was much better.
Black Ops has terrible hit detection, a clear tier list of guns which wasn't really the case in MW2 where most guns were on par with one another with the exception of a few, the map design is Black Ops is so bad. The spawning system is awful; I can't tell you how many times I had people spawn right behind me. Pistols are almost effectively useless in the game, the poor map design basically makes sniper rifles pointless as you can pretty much still kill people effectively with your rifle from anywhere, and there are hardly any exceptions to this in any map.

I tried it. An OK game. There are a lot of useless stuff and camping, but I still had some fun going kamikaze with a RPG.
 
It's good for killing time. But if you want fair challenge with competitive gameplay, get Counter-Strike: Source.
