The same great action from previous titles, and then some.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Mobilized is the third game in the franchise to come to the Nintendo DS. If you have loved what n-Space has done with Call of Duty on the DS, then you will no doubt enjoy this installment. It improves upon the last Modern Warfare with new, modern weapons and an overall better gameplay in quite a few, perhaps unnoticeable areas. In fact, if you haven't tried the series on the Nintendo DS before, this game might be a nice time to.

This FPS doesn't have too complicated of a story, but it is rather fun to play through. You take the role of American and British special forces as they attempt to recover a nuclear weapon. The whole game isn't just running and gunning, but there are also some other activities you have to do. Hop on a jeep and become a gunner as your team attempts to escape the city. Get on a plane and become a gunner as you attempt to better clear a path for your allies. Those aren't new, but there are several new ones, such as controlling an unmanned spy plane and taking total control of a tank. All of these work out great. The old ones are improved by simple things such as more realistic gun noises, and the new ones are just as fun and will hold your interest for just as long.

The game might not be very long for you, but there is still plenty to do. The game has a lot of replay value in that it is awfully fun, and there are still things to do after beating a level like searching for collectibles. Or the game's challenge mode will eat up some more of your time.

The real gotcha that might get you if you are playing for the first time, or even if you are still playing, would be the graphics. From the perspective of being pretty, Mobilized is not very pretty, but you shouldn't of been expecting that. The graphics are muddy, But from a technical standpoint, it does a pretty good job with what it's doing. You probably get technically as much of this as you would on a console, which is a nice accomplishment. The guns fire like they should, sound like they should, and enemies are like they would be in real life. One shot won't always get them as they struggle to get a final few shots off of you. The only real problem from a technical standpoint is the AI. There are still some issues with it. Sometimes, the AI will just abandon you even though it's not suppose to. Often times, they will yell "multiple targets!" but there is only one enemy to be found, if any. A few times, some of my teammates was straight up at an enemy, but neither one of them fired a shot at each other, or even attempted a melee attack. Sometimes, they will fire at the wall when there is absolutely no target there. Also, I encountered a problem in one of the levels where the one teammate you had went straight into enemy fire, then just ran back. Yes, there are problems with the AI, but at least they will usually kill a few hostiles.

The sound is pretty nice too. The noises guns make are even more realistic than in the previous Modern Warfare. The gun is overly dramatic, which is very awesome. There is also an impressive amount of voice acting, which dramatically contributes to the story and makes it all the better. The only problem is that enemies tend to cry the same thing after dying, but this is only a small problem. At least you know they're dead.

After all is said and done, there is still multiplayer left. This time, we are introduced to 6 player multiplayer, which works decently. There are still multiple problems. It is unreasonably difficult to get a match. Even if you manage to do so, it still isn't as fun as Local multiplayer. There is no way to communicate with players online, not even teammates. Plus from what I've played, it's not exactly fair that one person picks all the rules. In addition to the fact that there is no auto-balance and it's easy to get at least 4-2 matches, Local multiplayer is a better option. The only complaint I have with local multiplayer is that you have to have multiple copies of the game to play with others.

With the lack of any FPS games on the Nintendo DS, you should be happy with what Call of Duty Modern Warfare Mobilized gives you. It has a great presentation combined with the same action you would come to expect from the Call of Duty franchise. If you liked any of the Call of Duty games on the Nintendo DS you should expect to appreciated what Mobilized has to offer. It's currently unmatched, and a great recommendation for anyone looking for shooting action on the fly.

How Does It Stack Up To Its Console Brethren 0

Developer N-Space has brought the Call of Duty franchise to the DS in two separate games. The first was COD 4 which laid the groundwork for future games with impressive tech. The second was COD: World at War, with this they improved on that tech, and focused on making a better FPS. N-Space is trying to top their first two efforts with Mobilized.             The game is broken down into two different modes, single player and multiplayer. Both modes of which have received great attent...
